Now he's had a couple of years of experience of competing in the premier league, I wonder if Marinakis has rationalised his thinking in any way? Based on what he said on the council house balcony I reckon he thought it was going to be a lot easier than it has been. I'm sure a 17th place fininsh in year two was not what he had planned anyway. I wonder if deep inside now he thinks/realises that Forest can only ever be a mid table prem side.

If we all took that approach though Sniff we'd all still be living in drafty victorian houses with a open chimney and wind coming in through the gaps in the windows. Things move on in life, buildings have to adapt for modern life.
IMO we need a 45/50k stadium. If that can't be achieved on the current site then we have to at least consider moving. We may not have needed this kind of capacity in the past and we may not need it in the future but here and now we need that kind of capacity to satisfy the demand for tickets. And there's the issue of further revenue generation from commercial uses. The CG is and probably always will be limited in what can be achieved in that regard. Like it or not, we have to accept that premier league football is about much more than your working class bloke having a couple of beers and a pie and buying a ticket for next to nowt.
You may be correct Pap and the logic most of us could reluctantly get on board with if explained the correct way that it’s impossible to develop the CG.
But please don’t give me this BS from the club about the lease costs being the reason we have to move. 10 weeks of Origi’s wages cover the lease for a year. Buying the freehold anywhere will be expensive. Some very suspicious motives in play. If its a negotiating ploy by Forest its a pretty dense one.
Also agree its a baffling move by the Chairman to give this interview now. Couldn't it have waited two weeks? Could we not just have a few fxxxing days with Forest when the only thing to talk about is football? Absolutely sick of how the club has behaved off the pitch recently.

Yep, this is all about getting a message out there. After years and years of critisism of the club, for some reason Daniel Taylor is the chosen journalist to deliver the club's message. He must have some dirt on the owner or something. I don't take these stories literally.
My take was that this latest article was intended to let the owner of this training ground land on the A52 know that they're prepared to walk away unless the asking price is more realistic. If you own a bit of land and premier league football club come looking to buy you're asking top dollar, aren't you? I am.

Statement from Nottingham city Council, far too much doesn’t add up here. I smell a long deceased rat.
“The City Ground lease has been discussed for a long time now and it’s important to say again that the council remains committed to finding a solution which works for both parties,” it reads. “Unfortunately, we’ve had little back from the club recently by way of negotiation — this is highly unusual in a property transaction.
“We’ve been very clear with Forest that the council is legally bound by the need to seek best value for taxpayers — no local authority can subsidise a Premier League football club. We’re seeking market rate for the site, nothing more, which is in line with our statutory requirements.
“The council is ready to continue negotiations, but we can only do that if Forest come back with meaningful comparable evidence on their valuation of the site, which has been repeatedly requested. At present, we’ve simply been told what the club is not prepared to pay without a constructive way forward being proposed.”

Forest are being offered sites that are bigger - with better infrastructure for much less. Yes forest want the free hold but the council are overpricing it by miles and judging it on the value of it as residential land for the whole plot having worked out what forest are calculating for the residential part of the development. They argue that is the market rate for prime waterfront property. However - without the vast proportion of it being the stadium this isn’t a fair market rate at all. Without the stadium is it really worth as much?
Trent bridge - brings in 1 or 2 big events a year.
The truth lies somewhere in the middle here.

I just don’t think the Toton site will work unless a relationship with the bus/tram/train network can be found to offer a fan service of match days. At the moment I assume most people using public transport north of the ground make their way to the city centre and walk down right now it might be hard to get 20000 fans to toton on the regular bus and tram service
