Sadly a lot of it is modern football, there's a lot of "politics" in the game these days. A lot of the things I'd criticise AK for are quite common with a number of modern managers, like José Mourinho etc.
It's not just greedy players who will abuse a club to advance their own careers, whilst simultaneously beating their chests & pretending to the fans that they care about the badge.
It's a sad part of the modern game.
I know what you mean and it’s certainly one of the bad aspects of the modern game.
I personally haven’t got a problem with ‘characters’ aslong as they’re consistently doing it on the pitch. I don’t know Worrall personally, never met the bloke, but he always came across in interviews more in the Dawson mould(decent with strong leadership capabilities)than anything else(I could be completely wrong).

Never rated him myself but you’ve got me scratching my head with that comment.
It's touched on earlier in the thread, he was rushed cover for Joe who was farmed out because AK didn't like him (as a person, not a player) or his connection to the fans. He didn't want somebody around who might be more popular than him with the fans if things got messy. AK was very keen to cultivate a popular image with the fans (his social media presence is professionally managed) so if the s**t hit the fan & his job was under pressure the backing of the fans could be used as a "human shield" against the club hierarchy.
Tl/dr: Politics
Given our chairmen’s record and the somewhat fickle nature of our some of our fan base this seems like a pretty good strategy to me for AK! It sort of worked too, the fans we’re largely behind him. I mean it’s backfired now. Harsh on Worrall though, although he would’ve been 4th choice. Looks bad now but he’ll come back a better player and depending on who we sign this window should have a good shot at starting next season

This is where the strategy change from warburton to karanka really gets to me. I had bought into the chairman’s letter last year and then the club changed tack, went for karanka and short term boom bust approach. The club are as much to blame. We need a long term sporting director and strategy. The O’Neill appointment smacks of desperation - although I personally like the nostalgia and trust O’Neills motivations.
