RE: Current Players Thread - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 13-05-2024 I don't think we need 50K either. I think 40K is fine. Chelsea, Brighton and Villa all recently been in Europe and don't have 50K. Well well well…. Forest have been offered the freehold. There’s a surprise RE: NFFC News None Transfer Related - wassy04 - 13-05-2024 (13-05-2024, 12:32 PM)DR Forest Wrote:(09-05-2024, 02:26 PM)DR Forest Wrote: The rent issue is white noise. It doesn't sound like this just happened today though, sounds like it's been an option for a while and we've not done anything. Kind of suggests we are actively looking at moving doesn't it? That said surely you buy the freehold now regardless then if you do move, you can take all the profit on redeveloping the existing area? Also, probably common knowledge, is it that we own the stadium but council owns the land? RE: The Infrastructure Projects - ToryTom - 13-05-2024 (13-05-2024, 11:03 AM)Paplane Wrote: I reckon EM probably sees the CG with a new stand as still being substandard, even after he's chucked £150m at it. And he'd have a point there imo. I think that is spot on. If Forest are ever going to be a major force in the premier league we will need a much greater income. I suspect the land at Toton will be cheap and Forest would get a much greater return on their investment. 5,000 extra seats is hardly going to make much difference and the costs are high. The club will think they need a state of the art multi use stadium which maximises revenue from hospitality and they get a greater share of the income which is spent by supporters on match day. I suspect the site at Toton is also large and if allowed us to build a training complex their as well and the land where it is currently it would provide a signifant boost to the funds. I went to Man City’s newish ground for the first time this season. There is nothing there which is not owned by the football club. Nearly every penny spent will be going into the club. Their fans would have had a similar attachment to Maine Road but i bet not many would want to move back. Others saying we don’t need 50,000 but look at wham and City. Their support has expanded because of the bigger stadiums. There would be more tourists but some of them will also become committed supporters. We could sell 40,000 now. Every game for the last three years has been a sell out. With facility for extra away fans we wouldn’t be far off from filling a new stadium. I am for it. If we saw out the existing lease over the remaining 33 years, we would be paying out £8.25M and would not own the land at the end of that period. Buy the lease,, then we can do as we wish with the site (planning permission granted of course). Also, why do we need a 50,000 seater stadium? We struggled to get 45,000 into the ground during our glory years FGS! We never got near 50,000 during the glory years and in those days it was turn up at the gate and pay. I can only ever remember the turnstiles being closed early because the ground was full on a few occasions. One of those occasions was against Leeds in the League Cup semi final. Me and my mate ended up getting in with the Leeds fans then managed to scarper over the pitch into the Trent End before the match kicked off. RE: The Infrastructure Projects - Salvatore Matrecano - 13-05-2024 30k tickets at average of £660 ish is £20m 50k tickets at average of £660 is around £33m Plus you get a lot more corporate and event revenue. Lets say you get an extra £20m a year from a shiny new stadium than we do now. Its a lot and it adds up to £400m extra over 20 years However we can still redevelop the CG and add revenue there probably add an extra £10m/ year You have to also take into account that whilst £20m sounds a lot that is only 16% of our tv income. If we say it is £10 more its only 8% of tv income. Don’t think its a cut and dried decision and can see the attraction of both but remain a bit suspicious about the conflict of interest our chairman has. Which means he was likely brought in because of that not in spite of that. To me this has all the hallmarks of preparing the groundwork to move. If you were Marinakis, would you want to spend excessive amounts on getting the CG just to 38k? I'm undecided personally, I don't feel like the expansion of the CG represents particularly good value for money but don't really want to move either. Waiting for someone to find a good option that somehow allows us to do both somehow! RE: The Infrastructure Projects - Salvatore Matrecano - 13-05-2024 Been saying a long time Wassy that the CG isn’t fit for purpose, not just the PT stand the whole thing needs ripping down. Would love it if we could buy the freehold and do just that but planning/building would be horrendous and time consuming as we have seen and EM isn’t the patient type. On the flip side there isnt an easy alternative site and the current location is good so it seems bonkers to relocate. It does seem though that the messages being put out by the club is that moving is preferred. RE: The Infrastructure Projects - ozzyten10 - 13-05-2024 It’s not 10m - it’s 10m for ‘current use’ add the residential development and the council will want loads more… |
