RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-11-2022 I know we have a manager/coach and long may that continue as it would indicate that things are going well and that we are getting results. However IF a vacancy was to become available then I personally would have this man (who will be available soon) right at the top of my wish list. Marcelo Daniel Gallardo. Doesn't mean Giraldi wasn't also culpable too, he was still involved in all the decisions. Surely if he disagreed that much he'd have left way sooner. Or alternatively he had no power and therefore you can't give him much credit for what happened at Watford as it was all the owners? Can't pick and choose which parts were him and which were the owners to make him look good surely. Do you know something there Sniff? Purely hypothetical but he would be very interesting, equivalent to getting a younger Bielsa. Been at River Plate a very long time and never managed outside of Argentina. Depends if he has a burning ambition to try the Premier League, would have thought a La Liga job a more likely move though. Him or todesco for me.. or maybe Sebastián Battaglia he's just as impressive as gallardo RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-11-2022 (08-11-2022, 11:21 AM)northeastred Wrote:(08-11-2022, 10:38 AM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote: I know we have a manager/coach and long may that continue as it would indicate that things are going well and that we are getting results. Yes there are some good options available if we look beyond the obvious ones. If these options are so good, why are they not being snapped up by the myriad of other teams changing manager? And also if they're that good why would they want to come and manage a team that's likely to go down? RE: Your Thoughts On The Next Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-11-2022 (08-11-2022, 11:35 AM)wassy04 Wrote:(08-11-2022, 11:26 AM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote:(08-11-2022, 11:21 AM)northeastred Wrote:(08-11-2022, 10:38 AM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote: I know we have a manager/coach and long may that continue as it would indicate that things are going well and that we are getting results. That is like saying if cooper is that good then why is the team he is managing likely to go down. Or if Cooper is that good how come nobody else snapped him up when he left Swansea. But a closer look and some research will reveal that Todescou, Battaaglia, Gallardo and Cooper all have very good reasons why they are rated highly. Because the team he is managing is worse than the others around him. I imagine there's quite a few championship clubs that wish they did snap him up based on what he did last year and I'm sure he'd of found another job if he didn't take ours pretty quickly due to his success at Swansea. Doesn't really explain why no-one else has moved for these other guys yet though? Or why they would be suitable for a team that's likely to get relegated? Or why they'd be willing to move to Forest if they have so many other willing suiters? My point is simply as with our transfer business we're going to struggle to attract a manager that's particularly highly rated or high profile. Meaning we're targetting managers that have recently failed, have been out of work for a while, are from lower leagues or rolling the dice on a foreign manager with likely no experience in the Premier League or possibly even outside their own country. those are our options right now. So if Cooper is sacked then we know its down to Giraldi because of course unlike the Pozzos, our owners dont get involved on the football side. Im not saying he's good or bad Wassy. I'm just saying that Watford appear to continue to be a basket case even after he's left. If we sign some players, who subsequently turn out to be good, then I'll applaud him. He he signs good players who turn out to be bad (like this season) then I'll be critising him. Same approach as I take with Cooper. He does things that I disagree with and some things I approve of. One thing you can say of Giraldi, he's clearly had a good look at Cooper before jumping in and doing something drastic. Especially a foreign manager who has not even managed in Europe. Not being xenophobic or anything, Onjust think we need some stability and experience. And are these top foreign managers going to be interested in us when we go down? I doubt it. This is probably the wrong thread but I actually like the appointment of Giraldi, partly because we really needed someone for that role but also because of his experience dealing with a very hands on ownership. His diplomacy skills that he clearly demonstrated at Watford could be the missing cog that we've needed with this ownership group. I mean despite their clear failings, Watford have still done pretty well. The bit we can't know is whether without him they would've been even more reckless at Watford or whether he had no influence. Also, whether if they just toned it down a little they could've been more successful, they're not going to be able to persuade any decent manager to come there now. I don't believe our owners are as interfering as those are, perhaps with Girladi's diplomacy we can be what Watford could've been. That was kind of my point, I don't think its xenophobic to question whether a guy would struggle living in a different continent, where he could not speak to language, would imagine it would be pretty challenging in the short term for that person. Plus then be expected to have an immediate impact or else get relegated. |
