Dunno but he should've. He'd have saved a lot of money just keeping O'Brien and finding an actual replacement for Taiwo. Having said that he'd also have saved a lot of money and time just keeping Dane Murphy because a lot of that new philosophy sounds a lot like what Murphy wanted to do anyway, lower the age of the playing squad and find quick players and players who want to play for us. I'm happy that he's decided that is the way to go, hopefully our recruitment will look a lot more like it did in the 2021/22 season going forward!

Could have got Keinan Davies for 1/2 the price of Wood, at least he can hold up the ball annd will be injured less than Wood!

Would've preferred to keep Zinck instead of Lingard as well, much cheaper layout, already knew the club, manager and supporters and would've offered us a lot more on the pitch this season, but like I say hopefully that'll be the outlook going forwards. Even if it means we yo-yo between the leagues for a few years at least we'll have a team that A, we can enjoy watching again and B, has plenty of saleable assets so we won't be in any financial bother.

Zink would have been very useful - he is a fit lad who did have a bit of quality about him. Wouldn’t have been as effective as in the championship but has done very well on loan in Belgium. Can’t believe Oly let him go on loan as I’m sure he would have been good for them.

What if Cooper didn't want him and wanted an upgrade instead? It hasn't worked out for Lingard but at the time who didn't think that Lingard was an upgrade on Zinc?

Not everything is EM's fault. He is mostly guilty of backing and respecting the decisions of his managers, hardly a crime.

I doubt Cooper came in demanding Lingard, particularly as we know that it was pushed through elsewhere. Likewise I'm sure Cooper would've been keen too, given Lingard's proven track record.

Lingard looked like a class signing on paper, loads of teams were after him, although I did find it odd he chose us. I guess we have a better idea why now!

If there was a mistake in there it was signing MGW and Lingard who both played the same position. Neither has looked particularly effective wide and we could've used those funds for a wide player instead.

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Ciscokid - 15-04-2023

It was a mistake letting him go. He is an intelligent player with an instinct for developing attacking threat. I think that he would cope well with the premiership.

I am not 100% sure but I don't think EM will be in attendance tomorrow.

Interviewing managerial candidates?

He was, his talent is undeniable but let’s not let the rose tinted spectacles taint our memory of him.
He was probably the most frustrating player we had that season- hot/cold, lack of concentration, drifted in and out of games…. Cooper wasn’t alone in being frustrated with him. A real shame.

I don’t think letting him go was the mistake; it was not getting the upgrade we needed (MGW aside).
And fair play to EM, heads have since rolled.

As long as he’s not in Liverpool (assumption) doing that. You get my drift.

RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - northeastred - 15-04-2023

Hope not. Villa have become 5 times the team since SG left
