RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 20-07-2020 Up until yesterday I had been very happy with Sabri so despite yesterdays screw up I will forgive him. Yep, hes quality. The players respect him, thats plain to see. We need to do what the players are no doubt doing this week - forget Sunday, get our heads right and be nothing but positive for Wednesday. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 20-07-2020 I will certainly forgive him and overall he has been a revelation. Added to that we desperately need stability. However if we somehow manage to bottle it on Wednesday and finish 7th, then new contract or not we have an owner who is utterly ruthless with managers who don't deliver. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 20-07-2020 Marinakis wasn't there yesterday. He was in Piraeus enjoying Olympiakos beating AEK 3-0 and then celebrating the title. I wouldn't be surprised to see him arriving at the City Ground on Wednesday though. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - audiosmee - 20-07-2020 i think Sabri was trying a plan B with the playoffs in mind- as discussed though i dont think he has the versatility of personel to manage what he wants. I think technically we're a long way from the promised land- Sabri has done wonders with what he has got but can we really see our side week in, week out in the PREM? The players seem to enjoy the burst of pace and explosive counter attack but they are not comfortable in possession- too many simple mistakes don't allow us to build a head of steam. We have a well drill and disciplined side but obviously that doesn't translate to technically mastery too at this level RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 20-07-2020 We need to remember that IF we make it to the PL the team will change dramatically so I never buy into the 'can you imagine this team in the PL' argument. He hasn't got the squad depth to do what he tried yesterday. not for the 1st time it backfired. SA. I think he thinks he was forced into the formation yesterday with the play offs in mind (ie having the best players available and fit). This is my theory. Swansea last week showed up the real weakness of the Da Costa & Jenkinson partnership. It was a car crash for 20 minutes. That problem was resolved by bringing over Ameobi to back up Jenkinson. So yesterday, if Ameobi is half fit or he wants to give him more rest before the play offs, what's his options? Bring back Cash and try to push Barnsely forward? Or does he bring in Lolley and drop Da Costa? Or play someone like Yates or Silva on the wing and see if they can defend any better than Da Costa. Diakhaby hasn't got a clue defensively. Maybe give Mighten or Walker a start? None of these are particularly attractive options for him so he goes for the cautious approach and brings in another defender (and experience) in Dawson in the hope that they can stay tight and see out the game. If that's right, then the team selection against stoke is going to be v interesting. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Paplane - 20-07-2020 I also think the inadequacies of the squad came to the fore yesterday. Dikhaby, Carvalho, Walker, Semedo, Bostock all either poor or not fancied by the manager, but taking up valuable squad places. None of these players were considered to be good enough to play yesterday. That brings us back to the winter transfer window which was a unmitigated disaster. Going all out for Grosicki and ending up with Diakhaby. Bringing back Walker. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - wassy04 - 20-07-2020 I sort of get the argument about the lack of alternatives but for me me it was embarrassing management. It was like someone picking up football manager and just making up a formation that meant you'd lose even if you were Man City against Yeovil. Players didn't know where they were meant to be, huge gaps everywhere. Worse still he didn't correct it when it clearly was failing miserably. That's the bit I dont get, I know he says we don't have option but he couldve started mighten, walker even carvalho or Diakhaby. No excuse for this for me, glaring red mark against him. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Username - 22-07-2020 What we don’t know right now is if Sabri has better players and a more rounded squad would he set us up any differently? I have taken issue with his team selection in recent weeks, playing Sow, Watson and Yates together was a negative approach and had us on the back foot from the off. Sabri had more attacking options in the squad and available, that would have at least had a more positive approach to each game (whilst none of them are perfect) in the likes of Silva, Carvalho, Johnson and Bostock so it’s not true that he was going with the best of what he had, he intentionally went into games not to lose. This for me is a big factor next year, he needs to learn from his mistakes. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - PsychoStooge - 22-07-2020 My thoughts are he's in trouble. EM doesn't hesitate when he isn't happy and that is an almighty bottle job. I'll be surprised if he keeps his job. |
