Yes they had a Sniff around January time I think it was. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - wassy04 - 06-09-2020 Here's one of those posts that everyone hates, everyone just needs to chill out a bit. Firstly yesterdays game was preseason and basically irrelevant, in fact I'd arguably want to lose hence perhaps gabriel playing for example. If you want managerial stability then these patches and challenges are what you go through. Hopefully he works things out and we begin to show some better form. If not then he'll struggle to make it to November. What I would say though is that if you want Sabri gone if he loses on Sat or now for example, managerial stability isn't for you and you'll be on the back of the next manager that loses a few games in a row. Keeping the same manager with the players he's chosen is our best chance of success with our budget. Need to be patient and try and ride out the bad patch. I guess on the plus side there's noone at the ground to turn on him so it probably doesn't matter what we think too much! Can't imagine it'll get through to many, I think if you've made your mind up already only strong results will change your mind. In everyone's defence, you build a rod to be beaten with if you play negative football. People are quicker to get on the managers back. Personally think that's our best chance of going up on our budget but can understand if others would prefer more entertainment RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sabricadabra - 06-09-2020 We had attacking football under Montanier and Warburton. Both were hopeless. Conceding 2 goals a game and losing 50% of your matches is far from entertaining, and instead is a recipe for getting the sack rather than gaining promotion. We can’t afford the squad to be a Man City of the Championship. Sheff Utd had a limited budget like us but we’re highly organised defensively and focussed on being good at hitting teams on the counter. That’s the recipe we need to follow. I agree with you Wassy but I really hope that we will stop calling it negative football because it just isn't. It's about creating the best possible situations for fast counter attacking. I'm 100% certain that Sabri has never told the players to go out onto the pitch and play for the draw. Never. There is a lot of things we can do better both in attack and defense and I'm optimistic that we will see a positive evolution of the team this season with a settled manager and a better squad. For me "The only way is up - baby". The Sheff Utd example though is perfect and what we should be aiming for. They were organised defensively yes only conceded 41 goals in their promotion year however they scored 78 which is 20 more than us last season. They started counter attacking much like us that season but as their confidence grew they started to properly put teams to the sword unlike us who fell away. But theirs is the model for sure. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sabricadabra - 06-09-2020 Agree with both of you. We can’t afford the squad to be a Man City of the Championship. I think sloppily turning the ball over when we do win it was our undoing in last 3rd of the season. The game on Saturday was a good example. But Colback and Lolley are far more capable of helping us to hurt opponents on the break instead of ourselves. Barnsley certainly looked alot sharper, but also a bit nastier and once the league games start we should have that edge back.
