Wes and Lascelles were always better athletes than Joe. Always quicker and better headers of the ball. Leeds targeted Worrall on Saturday. Long balls down his channel where he was either outpaced by Bamford or was not strong enough to get the ball of him when Bamford had his back to goal. Joe's passing is woeful. Always backwards or sideways.

I see what you mean  :D

In fact the pass accuracy for the whole team in that game was awful (62%) but still Worrall was better than Dawson, Cash and Muric. Only Robinson was marginally better in defense.

RE: Joseph Adrian Worrall - Jacksbadhobbits - 15-08-2019

Joe Worrall's pass accuracy percentage should be the best in the team because he does not take any responsibility for passing it forward. He passes sideways and backwards, often putting other players under pressure. When he does play a forward pass it is usually behind the person receiving and slowing the momentum or he simply gives it away.

RE: Joseph Adrian Worrall - ThePromisedLand - 15-08-2019

I notice that he tried to do a Daws & spray the ball 50 yards diagonally against Fleetwood. Do what your best at Joe - don’t try and be what you’re not.

RE: Joseph Adrian Worrall - GaribaldiRED - 15-08-2019

What is this? Has Worrall become the new Osborn now?

Dawson is accurate with only half of all the long balls he is trying for. Again Worrall has a better overall long ball accuracy than Dawson. Please do a bit of research before posting these inaccurate statements.

RE: Joseph Adrian Worrall - ThePromisedLand - 15-08-2019

Research can be misleading Gari - eg most of Joe’s passes being short/sideways giving him a high completed pass percentage.
I apologise if my earlier post came across as critical - it wasn’t. I’m basing my comment on observation - perfectly valid given the misleading pass percentage stats.
For what it’s worth I was ( still am ) a big defender of Ben Osborn - much maligned.

I prefer to focus on Worrall's strengths of which he has many. It's easy to criticise, John Robertson had no pace at all and could not head a ball to save his life. There you go.

What are his strengths. Robbo had many

For me Joe has been excellent this season and all he needs to do is try to maintain the level of performance. Consistency is what makes a great centre back. "You'll never beat Des Walker" was actually true in most seasons! For his age, I actually think Joe is making good progress. As far as Championship defenders go, he will do just fine for me.
As for strenghts: Good in the air, decent reader of the game, tough tackling, big unit and young so will continue to improve. No where near as slow as some imply. John Terry was slower and did OK.
