Both Goncalves and Dias come with a reputation of being excellent on the ball and direct in how they play with a bit of pace. They even surprised me with their willingness to track back. So in that sense, I believe they are exactly what we need. The problem is that they haven't delivered on that promise. Dias. If you pull out of 50/50s, you're not ready for this league. It cost us the points at Norwich for the win. Aitor made the wrong call putting Dias on instead of Os'. Os', home grown better than both and their muted transfer 'values.' In fact...don't we need to sort out Os' contract..? When he plays? Forest play. SA. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - the jock - 03-01-2019 to be honest you could see in preseason they were very lightweight. you need to be strong in this league especially if you have guys on a 1 year loan wanting to make an impact. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - Redgirl - 03-01-2019 Sorry SA disagree with that last line. Don’t get me wrong he’s brilliant to have on the bench as Tuesday proved, but for the starting eleven not for me. I’ve seen too many games where he has played and Forest haven’t performed well, he’s slowed the game down. I prefer to think of him as our ‘super sub’ Would’ve thought that will not be enough for him though. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - GaribaldiRED - 03-01-2019 I agree that Goncalves has been lightweight but not Dias. He has in general been good defensively (except for the Norwich game) but has disappointed big time in attack. You tend to get no time on the ball and I believe both Goncalves and Dias has taken a confidence knock as a result. Carvalho to a lesser extent but also he struggles when the tempo is high and the pressing from the opposition is tight. But I believe all three has the potential to succeed in England but I don't believe Goncalves and Dias will get the time needed for that to happen. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - Kylos247 - 03-01-2019 If im honest when i first saw carv i was wow we have really.just paid 13m for him, i couldnt help but compare him to the likes of tomlim and dowell and thought we have been robbwd. The player i was most impressed with was dias he looked a class act. His dribbling waa very like lolley had a good shot on him, pre season looked good. Whats happened?? Well carv has played every game just about so had time to adapt better, along with the fact we need to justify his price tag. Where as dias just seems to not play to his strength, he seems.to now run into players as apposed to away from them. Confidence? How hes being told.to play? Either or hes had enough time to make an impact to which he hasnt so him and goncalves may as well be sent back to their parent club so we can fill those holes with players who will be able.to make more of an impact. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - the jock - 03-01-2019 carvalho really is on the pitch to carve out that one moment of magic. he has quality we havent seen in a long time. if that moment of magic doesnt come he doesnt do all that much to dominate etc. he has had no assists now in 8 games which is why hes probably coming in for criticism. still only 21 though and has 3 goals and 6 assists in a league he has never played. the likes of millwall blowing him all over the pitch will be a learning curve. A steep one at that Jock. He has looked tired these last few games, still has a few moments, he’s young and gaining his experience in what must be one of the hardest leagues in the world. No criticism from me I think a lot of the players are finding it a bit of a slog at the moment. RE: Diogo Goncalves & Joao Carvalho - TheGreenMan - 03-01-2019 To be fair, Dias and Goncalves haven’t exactly had a run in the team to impress. How can anyone especially young players get used to playing in a foreign league without actually playing? Saying that I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least Goncalves return. As for Osborn he’s just a mediocre championship player, if our ambitions are as high as the owners say they are then we need to move on from players like him. |
