RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - wassy04 - 12-09-2020 Was pretty poor today but I suspect unless you were watching Liverpool Leeds you watched a boring game. No team won by more than 2, everyone is suffering trying to combine some kind of preseason. Going to be difficult to increase the tempo to begin with. That said the increase of long balls didn't really help and we were once again poor in possession. Ameobi made a big impact but I wonder whether its time for a change in tactics. Just to freshen things up a bit. I'm not a fan of sacking managers but I think we need to see something over the next month or so to show some progress as the squad does look solid on paper. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Plymouth red - 12-09-2020 I usually go from that Leeds game because for me that is when the rot set in. We bossed that game and looked like we could push on. Since then, we've really been on a downward trend both in terms of results and performances. Before the new season I blamed a tired and exhaustive first xi and a lack of suitable depth as a result of a poor transfer window (highlighted by the fact that only da Costa is part of the squad - and even then I'm not sure that is a good thing) Now the only reason can be fitness of some key players (Lolley, Sow, Freeman and colback) and getting the new players embedded. If that happens and still no improvement then I assume we are just bad RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ThePromisedLand - 12-09-2020 (12-09-2020, 08:29 PM)Paplane Wrote: Ive said all along he needs wins. Maybe another defeat and a draw in the next couple of games and he might be toast. I dont like it but that's the way it is. We didn't deserve to lose today. Well we certainly didn’t deserve to win! RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Plymouth red - 12-09-2020 My personal belief is that if you can't muster a shot on target against a side managed by warburton then you probably deserve to lose RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Jacksbadhobbits - 12-09-2020 (12-09-2020, 08:14 PM)Madforit Wrote: To be honest I`ve given up caring if Lamouchi gets the sack, I really cannot see him turning this around, I don't think he knows how to, I`m starting to think that maybe he has lost the dressing room with his tactics or lack of them, his tinkering with the team, poor decision making will and continually over looking certain players that are more than capable to get into this team. Far too early to be talking about sacking the manager. We have tried that a zillion times and we know it doesn't work. It results in the incoming manager having players he does not want but can't get rid of. Sabri has shown some promise. We finished 7th last season which was an improvement. He has brought players he wanted during the close season and we need to give them time to gel. The club and team need some stability and we need to be a bit more patient. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ThePromisedLand - 12-09-2020 ^ You're right. Of course you are. But my patience is running bloody thin! ^ RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Plymouth red - 12-09-2020 My fear is that we have been going backward since february and that final day implosion was so incredible it is something that is hard to shake off. The start to this season is exactly how we finished the previous season. When you have a prolonged run like this, then it can be hard to turn around and although it is only one game this season, it is 8 games without a win and four defeats in a row. But we've had slow starts before - the season we finished third under Billy Davies didn't see us get going until after about 8-9 games so it isn't the end and I keep looking at the players and thinking there should be enough to turn this around and turn the season into a success. I just would have liked to have seen a bit more evidence of that today RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Madforit - 12-09-2020 I just don't think he has learnt anything, he talks a good job RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Uwantlee - 12-09-2020 (12-09-2020, 08:07 PM)Paplane Wrote: Cheer up you miserable lot. We need to bed in. Freeman looked promising, Colback rusty, Grabban missed a couple. Gabriel a young lad making his league debut. On another day we'd be going home with a point.Bollocks We are chasing a goal, he take our best player off leaving Yates on the pitch refusing to give up his 2 cdm. The football is awful. If we were winning with awful football then he would get away with it. Fact is we are not winning. We dont look like winning and we make poor teams look good. What chance do we have playing the better teams. We cant keep saying this on another day crap. In another season we wouldn't have fooked up last season. Fact is we lost. Again. It is the manager's fault. His tactics his responsibility. He needs to go for the good of the club and if we are to have any chance this season. He did it with players he inherited from other managers. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Tricky - 12-09-2020 Does sitting so deep and trying to play out from the back now inspire a certain amount of trepidation from the players? I have noticed that most sides will now do a high press against us, which means stifling our progression forwards, stopping us from making forward runs or even sideways passes. We are now having to revert to the long punt forward, from our CB's and are effectively bypassing our midfield. We are being forced into making stupid errors along our back line. I have now had time to calm down a bit and try to make some sense out of what happened today. We do look like we are behind, when it comes to pre-season. Has Sabri misjudged just what was needed? We did play with a number of players who have barely featured over the past 6, 8, 10, 12 months so there is rustiness in some legs and minds. Hopefully, they will sharpen up and give us a much greater attacking threat. But we have got to ditch this defensive let the opposition have the ball and hit them on the break tactic, because we have been found out and it is no longer effective. Even when it was effective, we squandered our chances, two of them less than 10 yards out and a virtual open goal!!! Sabri has got to start getting ruthless with certain players now. He has the majority of the cover he needs. If they aren't performing, they need to be dropped. I am not just implying the likes of Carvalho or Ribero, but the likes of Figuredo, Worrall, Grabban, Yates, his 'pet players'. He needs to come up with a more attacking dimensional tactic now he has more attack minded players in the squad. There is an old adage in football and that is, the best form of defence is to attack. Sabri needs to learn this and adopt it otherwise it is going to be a long hard season and he will be unemployed before we get to Christmas! I think the Sabri negative tactics argument is overstated. For the last 25 mins today we were playing 424. I know we were chasing the game. It today turned today on Figs error. Until then we were not great but it was an ok away performance. They had not threatened our goal. Individual error at the back which we didn't make too many of last season and the usual lack of cutting edge in the final third third. Hopefully the new centre back will help with the former and Freeman should give us more quality in the final third. A fit Lolley, Ameobi and Freeman should start to create more chances. Today we did create a few but missed them. |
