Seeing as Sniffer has gone on strike I will answer my own question. At Olympiacos the majority of season tickets are between €200-400 however the home end where Gate 7 are is only €100. To me that shows that EM and Oly are in touch and don’t want to lose the grassroots fan.
Admittedly this is for the Greek league which without meaning to offend is complete pants but assume it gives you the option to regularly purchase Champions league tickets. Of course you are also paying wages for Joao Carvalho & co, not some of the worlds highest earners. Should also point out they do have some eye poppingly expensive VIP seats at €3000, hopefully someone gives you a cold half time Mythos for that.

What does that say? Its genuinely not having a pop at EM because I don’t think this is his doing even if he would have been consulted. If this was EMs idea then both clubs would have a price structure on similar lines. Indeed if the proposal had been to freeze prices I suspect he would have gone along with it. For whatever reason Paul Bell and colleagues think price rises are justified. Just my guess of course.

Sniffer, I was using far too many words to make a simple point. Oly have kept prices low for their core support, low wages or not. Forest aren’t doing that.
I am defending Marinakis because if it was his idea both clubs would be run along the same lines. Instead Paul Bell has come in, said look Brighton and Bournemouth charge far more so why shouldn’t we and EM has signed it off not realising how big an increase this is and how it will affect people.
Its not EMs job to set ticket prices but unfortunately he has taken on someone to run the club who clearly couldn’t care less about the supporters

What constitutes the ordinary fan in the context of PL football?

Im stereotyping but the working class male has traditionally been the bedrock of support and mostly has contributed to the atmosphere good (recently) and bad (70-80s thuggery).
PL football obviously gentrifies things and good to see more families coming, its probably a 70:30 male female split around me now. The downside is “Morgan can I have your shirt” and people arriving 10mins late, sitting on their phones talking about Liverpool and leaving early so their Mercedes doesn’t get stuck in traffic. Goes without saying which group contributes to the atmosphere which for most clubs is a bit of a myth and frankly somewhat embarrassing compared to German clubs for example.

There should be a mix to accommodate both and why we desperately need a new or improved stadium. However until then don’t alienate what we currently have and maybe think first about managing finances, not using the fans to make up (a small part) of the shortfall when they land in a mess.
