That is a huge turnaround from the season before, all that concern around having to sell the best players.
That puts the club in a very strong position come the summer window.

Next year it'll go the other way though as there hasn't been any major player sales, though the additional prize money will help offset that.
Good to see the commercial income took a big jump. Hopefully it'll be even higher next season too.

Its very welcome and the change over the last 2 seasons vs historical trends is staggering.
Without meaning to be negative, its the UEFA 70% rule that worries me for playing in europe
The squad cost rule restricts spending on player and coach wages, transfers, and agent fees to 70% of club revenues, with gradual implementation of up to 90% in 2023/2024, 80% in 2024/2025, and 70% in 2025/2026.
Can anyone work out where we are with regard to this? Wages as a percentage of income have decreased which is great but there are so many other factors. We know Villa fell foul of it although you have to say their wheeling and dealing has been brilliant.

Just looking at the Premier League merit payments for last year. On top of all the shared payments we were awarded £11.3m based on our league position of 17th. Even if we finished 7th this season - which realistically looks like the lowest we'll finish - using last year's payments as a measure we'd receive £39.4m - over £25m more.

I just had a look at Spurs' financials, and it highlights how we need to sort the ground situation out. Also from Spurs' financial statement:
"The Club construction spend on the planned Hotel next to the stadium in the financial period was circa £3m. The Hotel will need to be part of a significantly larger development with other external stakeholders." So they're not finished yet, adding a hotel. I know Nottingham is different to London, but so many ambitious owners with big plans. Birmingham City for example have bought 60 acres of land (the size of around 45 football pitches) to build a rumoured 62,000 seater stadium and much else, with most revenue planned to be from non-match days. I don't see how we can be a competitive force in English football if we just extend the old girl to 42,000 and celebrate having hot water in the toilets! I'm very keen to hear what the latest plans are on the ground redevelopment.

But even if you disregard the development aspect you only have to take a look at how stadiums are used for non football events, White Hart Lane and Villa Park have both got notable events occurring in the near future, and I don’t understand why we can’t do the same?
As an example, it seems still seems criminal to me that Leigh Wood isn’t fighting at the WFCG.
We could still do more with what we have IMO.

We got take that, which was the first big thing in ages, and the England game too. Maybe they don’t want to commit themselves to far in the future just in case we can start some prelim work on the rebuild

That’s understandable thinking but surely they must have some idea as to when the prelim work will start

The club now finds itself in a 'damned if you do, damned if you dont' situation.
Should we get into Europe next season, does the club put back starting work on the new stand and keep as many fans inside the stadium as they can or do they think longer term, start work ASAP and consider the longer term prospects of having 42/45,000 in the ground every other week, along with more corporate events and concerts, other sporting events etc? Tough call either way!
