RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 26-01-2021 A genuine question for those of you who go to matches regularly- are we less forgiving of both the manager and the team at the moment because we cannot attend games? My thoughts are even if I had been there for Boro last week, the result was poor but it wasnt that terrible a game. It may have been freezing cold but I would have had a prematch pint and laugh with friends and regulars, win or lose I always enjoy the atmosphere and the occasion. Even a trip to watch us battered by Swansea you would have tales to tell and memories of a day out that would live far longer than the game itself. At the moment though all the focus is on the 90mins of football. If you were there you work off some frustration at the ref for the crap decisions, you take the piss out of Jenkinson and Bong for their ineptitude. But now we just bottle it all up and maybe some of it comes out on this forum! I wonder if we were there we would see easier who in the team was putting the effort in, I think most are, we might warm to some of the newcomers more, the players in turn might raise their game and CH would get an easier time of it. They would still get booed off though and the old twat behind me would still be yelling “Yates you are crap” every few minutes. Apologies didnt know whch thread to put this thought here best. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sausage Roll - 26-01-2021 Someone on Twitter's posted a really interesting breakdown of Brighton's seasons under Hughton. They got to the playoffs and had a poor season straight afterwards when Hughton kept them up. The season after they finished third, missing out in the playoffs, then went up automatically the season following that. We can hope, eh? RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Marinakis Red - 26-01-2021 When hughton finished 20th he had come in half way through that season and kept them up, then in his second season finished third losing in the playoffs then promoted the following season. That graphic is slightly inaccurate. The playoffs before that 20th place finish was Gus Poyet. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 26-01-2021 In other words he was at Brighton 2 and a half seasons before he got them promoted. Do you reckon the hierarchy (or the fanbase) here would grant him that “commodity of time”? It’s needed Sal - if only to finally purge the club of the never ending conveyor belt of signings & departures. We can but hope. Yeah I know, and that makes the parallels closer. He came in during a poor season which was the season after a good season, steadied the ship, then pushed on. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - northeastred - 26-01-2021 Can anyone see the hierarchy give him longer than this summer? U cant tell me his target was not play offs when he came in, we got that high last year it would of been expected again, espc with his CV RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - wassy04 - 26-01-2021 (26-01-2021, 06:43 PM)northeastred Wrote: Can anyone see the hierarchy give him longer than this summer? We were bottom of the league when he took over. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Strawberry Avenger - 26-01-2021 Bottom of the league. I think I removed that from my memorry. If we get 7 from 9 in the next three matches it will take Forest midtable. It will look a lot better and suddenly Hughton has done a decent job on righting the ship. A comparable 7 match unbeaten run will mean two runs equalling 14 unbeaten. SA. Thats fine if they are wins, but a 7 match unbeaten run which consists of 7 draws equates to a mere 7 points and that wont get us very far im afraid. We would better if we won 3 and lost 4, points wise. I am not advocating we go for just 3 wins obviously, we need to be going for 7 wins and then the points tally wont look so bad and we would indeed be around midtable. He builds clubs, he isn’t a quick fix man. he will have had 40 games to have fully assessed what he has got, and what he needs. We will be much improved next season, just because history tells you that CH always does well in his 2nd season. I reckon we have hit rock bottom and hopefully will get us moving forward. Won’t be a quick fix though |
