I just expected a bit more to be honest. Our last 4 appointments have been managers with a pragmatic safety first approach playing a rigid 4231 or 4141.
We’ve seen 442 as a plan b about 3 games in the last 100 and a few last 10 minutes of games.
352 - 433 teams always seem to get the upper hand on us. We lack energy and pace - with a deep back line. We are so predictable and play through the flanks - relying on transitions when opposition have overloaded and lost the ball.
The lack of quality for me is a red herring. The majority of the squad finished seventh last year and ran out of steam. We got 4 players in from promotion squads. An experienced premier striker and another midfielder with 150 premiership appearances.
We signed a coveted centre half who is a Scottish international and one of the best goals per games strikers from the championship last year.
The crap served up in the last 4 matches has been appalling after signs that we were turning a corner. The Swansea game was a huge turning point for me. We dominated that game and played some good stuff and controlled the game only to lose through poor finishing and a carbon copy goal that we should have been coached about from the previous Swansea match.
I desperately want stability- I hoped it would be Hughton but it is dire.
Something within the squad and club is deeply wrong. Fans in grounds wouldn’t put up with this.

To work with our best players, & the ones most likely to be involved next season & build from the back, & most of the rest of the team is either loans, patch & make do, broken, or not good enough, so he's not really been in a position to do much there as the main players he'll be using aren't fit, available, or ours yet.
It's a pretty crappy & uninspiring plan, but with what we have there's not much else to do apart from tough it out.
I mean, look at the spine of the team beyond the back 4, we've had to use a Mancunian school boy, down here on detention, to sure up the base of midfield, we'v had to borrow an attacking midfielder, because we didn't have one & were making do with a box to box midfielder, as we haven't had a decent #10 since Tomlin found the Greggs in Clumber street & pissed off back to Cardiff in around 1250AD & up front we've had to bring in Foggy, because Compo & Cleggy haven't been working.
We don't really have anything to mold into a plan beyond the back 4, & one of thems borrowed...

You see that's where it goes wrong, when fan start building fantasies. Lyle Taylor got of to a blinding start last season, scoring 4 goals in his first 4 games, including in against us in a match we all probably watched, he was on fire & because he was the top scorer at the start of the season he was in the papers, on TV & everyone was raving about him, so everyone thinks he's great, but in reality, in the 50 league games since, here AND there, he's scored a mere 11 goals, & was a long way down the pecking order in terms of goal per game by the end of the championship season, but of course fans don't know that because he got off to that flyer, then there was all that hype about him in January, & whether Charlton would cash in, & then of course he didn't see out the season, so became out of sight & mind as a player & only an object for discussion in transfer speculation, so fans only saw what they wanted, the blistering start to the season, the goal against us & the transfer speculation & built a mythos around the player, that ignored the reality of the rest of his season, the barren spells, the poorer & more average games, & the fact that he's 30 with a not super spectacular record in the lower leagues, & so people saw a 20 goal a season superstar rather than the reality of a gamble on a half decent back up striker & the fact we've had to employ an 84 year old back up plan suggests the gamble didn't come of quite as well as hoped.

I’m just sick of the club appointing negative manager after negative manager. There’s nothing to suggest that with the football he’s churning out that there’s maybe a bright future under him because there isn’t.
In all honesty after Sabri left I wasn’t exactly expecting a promotion push, but I was expecting maybe a little flirt with the play offs(not necessarily being in the play offs positions). And I certainly wasn’t expecting this shite of just happy to turn up attitude from the manager and the complete lack of the understanding of substitutions aswell.
Sorry, but Hughton belongs in a museum with O’Neill.

For the first time since he arrived I am also starting to question whether Hughton is the right man to take us forward. If it's crossed my mind then it's probably crossed EM's mind too!

I told you not to get carried away after those results against the bottom sides and to judge us after the run of 6 games were currently in and we have 1 point to show with a game left, I didnt include Cardiff at the time.
These run of games have shown us exactly where we are.

My concern about Hughton last night was less about the quality of play ( or lack of it ) and more about the absolute lack of purpose. The players showed no urgency whatsoever, happy to coast through the game & just pick up their pay cheques at the end of the month.
Does Hughton possess a ‘hair dryer’ treatment? The players bloody well need it right now.

He said in his interview he 'got into them' at half time. 2nd half they came out and improved. Whats the issue with Hughton?
With no Knockheart, no Lolley, no Worrall, no Samba, and no Krov a defeat was inevitable against an excellent team.

And Norwich are an excellent team. Of all the top sides in the division that we've played over the last 3 or 4 years (Leeds, Villa, Sheff Utd, Wolves) Id say Norwich looked the best of the bunch. I can see them being half decent next season.
