Perhaps, but the fact that we're bottom now does not mean we'll be bottom at Christmas RE: Post-Transfer Window Can CH Now Turn Things Around - PsychoStooge - 01-09-2021 (01-09-2021, 03:56 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(01-09-2021, 03:48 PM)PsychoStooge Wrote: What is this thing about giving managers until Christmas? Doesn't mean we won't be either, that's why some of us want proactive change rather than reactive. Also true, you could say that about any team though! :D I think there's an interim period between now and Christmas that if we're still bottom I'm sure it would be time to pull the plug. I don't think now is that time yet, however I do agree the clock is ticking. RE: Post-Transfer Window Can CH Now Turn Things Around - SSM - 01-09-2021 CH is the biggest winner of this window. It's taken a lot of pressure off him in the short term. He avoided relegation with no permanent outfield signings that were his. I'd imagine he'll do better with his own players in. He's got 9 of them. I don't see a quick fix. But with the tools to now do the job and a mini-pre-season over the next couple of weeks the odds are in favour of Hughton's Forest being able to pick up points and climb the table. Pity they weren't all brought in much sooner. (Don't see the game vs Cardiff being a walk in the park even with the new signings.). Could do with a win would to really get Forest going. He didn't get a striker though? Hopefully Silva is the ace in the pack. SA. RE: Post-Transfer Window Can CH Now Turn Things Around - Alf - 01-09-2021 I don't think he can. Worral's return is huge, hopefully out of the plethora of fullbacks we've signed we can fid 2who are better than bottom 3 material, but we need goals and ultimately I think that will be his undoing. The one caveat to that is if we somehow find a way of maximizing out set plays. That could make the difference, but it hasn't looked likely yet. RE: Post-Transfer Window Can CH Now Turn Things Around - stirred - 01-09-2021 What does turn it around mean? If it means will we avoid relegation that should be pretty easy, barring significant injuries. If it means get the best out of the players at his disposal then a resounding no. But think we’ll know after the next 2 games. Cardiff and Middlesborough at home, he’s got to go for it. If we don’t win either, I think he’ll be gone. Goals are the issue. Obviously. Could Mighten play as a striker? I think it’s worth a shot. Will we have any behind closed doors friendlies between before Cardiff? I get the impression that the recruitment effort was a (cosmopolitan) 'team' effort with Randall on record that Hughton has the final say. If you take Randal 'Kevin Keegan' at his word. SA. Any manager should be able to bring in his own permanent striker after a year. (Still waiting on that one. And why we had so many 'draws' last years that could and should have been wins. Not something you can put into Hughton's win ratio but statistics mask such things.). We're certainly missing a target man as an option. It's doing a disservice to an excellent manager in Hughton. I guess we're going to have to go 'team effort' on the goals scored with high wingbacks. We'll soon find out. If we can climb the table and work on January to bring in that striker. There is 'hope' that the new wingbacks/wingers/no.2 (Silva) and general overall upgrading of the 1st team will bring goals out of Grabban and Lyle. They have had poor service. Something that also doesn't get shown in win ratios. SA. |
