RE: What does Remo Freuler actually do? - Marinakis Red - 09-02-2023 Reno Freuler just plays football quite well. RE: What does Remo Freuler actually do? - tugger2018 - 09-02-2023 He is like the conductor of an orchestra He controls the game like John McGovern used too RE: What does Remo Freuler actually do? - Sausage Roll - 09-02-2023 (09-02-2023, 09:07 AM)tugger2018 Wrote: He is like the conductor of an orchestra Hang on - in that transfer thread on the other forum you said you wanted to get rid of him in summer. RE: What does Remo Freuler actually do? - DR Forest - 09-02-2023 I’ve been a fan of what he does since he first arrived, if you want to check. There were far fewer then who could see and it was a much tougher argument. He’s still not being used to his full potential because we don’t yet have the right blend in midfield or top third to provide that forward momentum and I too would like to see more creativity on the front foot from him, which should come when Danilo settles and Wood learns how to trap a ball. In the meantime we will have to settle for his excellence as defensive screening cover. Can I start a thread called “what does mangala actually do”, because I don’t really see his role in the team in the current set up and fully expect Yates to replace him when he’s fit again. I think the answer to that will soon be "makes 15 min cameos" as Yates, Shelvey, Danilo and maybe even Scarpa overtake him. I think the lesson with Mangala is not overrate how good someone because the team looks bad when they're injured eg Niakhate. Let the guy ease back in, tbh doubt he'll get much game time unless we get miles ahead of the drop zone so probably won't matter. I presume Boly and Felipe will be the starters, maybe as soon as Sat. I realise this is not about Freuler anymore sorry. Remo what a player. Remo what a player. Haha I've no idea mate, he scored a goal for Switzerland in the WC that was good... I think DM is a pretty difficult position to judge for the average fan, unless they're making tons of tackles or something. Or someone like Kante that is clearly so got he transcends the position. Even if you use stats, you could say he's made a lot of interceptions or tackles but that might be due to not having much possession. I've not seen him make many mistakes, I think that's a key point. Don't remember him missing obvious tackles or badly misplaced passes. The defence has been pretty solid for a while now since he's been playing in that role which is a positive. Plus Steve picks him every week and he never gets subbed so I'm going to trust he's having a big impact defensively at least! Remo tactically is very smart in delivering our plan, he closes down spaces and avenues for passes into strikers, he makes quite a few interceptions, is like to see the stats on that of where he is in the prem on that front. He keeps the ball and rarely gives it away, all be it playing very simply to keep us ticking. Very rarely gets caught out of position meaning he reads the game very well and does not get caught out ball watching. A few things I've observed and like, he is crucial to how we're currently set up and trying to play. He allows others to bomb on and make forward runs beyond the play with his awareness too. What do you think he does or doesn't do SM? RE: What Does Remo Freuler Actually Do? - Mcforest - 09-02-2023 Well i can tell you Remo makes 1.9 tackles per game and 1.5 interceptions per game Jack Colback makes 0.5 tackles and 0.3 interceptions per game Yates makes 1.5 tackles and 0.4 interceptions per game And even more perspective Thomas Partey who most are claiming to be the top CDM so far scores 2.3 tackles and 1.1 interceptions And yet more Remo is our third best tackling player joint with Worrall but behind Aurier and Williams and second for interceptions behind Boly Sorry to answer your original question Remo is ranked 62 in tackles with 33 and 29 with 25 interceptions RE: What Does Remo Freuler Actually Do? - wassy04 - 09-02-2023 (09-02-2023, 12:46 PM)Mcforest Wrote: Well i can tell you Remo makes 1.9 tackles per game and 1.5 interceptions per game As mentioned previously though, Partey would have less need for tackles/interceptions due to higher team possession and the team playing further up the field in general. I found interesting on the link SR posted with stats that all the top interception rates it was players from teams in the bottom half, which makes sense. |
