RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - nffc93 - 12-05-2024 Murrilo for me. Outstanding for a lad making his first full season. Considering where he came from. Hope we've got him for another season. RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - ToryTom - 12-05-2024 Gibbsy. We can’t afford to lose him either RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - wassy04 - 12-05-2024 Wood - has done well but faded recently, better than expected but not our best player overall IMO. 12 goals is no more than solid and really should've been more. Without MGW's assists we'd be down too. Murillo - super talented, maybe our most talented player and has done really well given its his first full season. However, we've had a pretty key deficiency in defence particularly at set pieces and he is a part of that. Neco - 2nd for me, how many games have we come out of thinking he was our best player. However, I think most of those have been losses where others have underperformed. He maintains his level where others don't. MGW - still not great at shooting, his corners are not the level you'd expect compared to the rest of his delivery (and Reyna showed what is possible on that front vs Wolves). However, he's joint 2nd (SECOND) in the PL assists table. He's the heartbeat of our team, works so hard and while inconsistent, looks really good when other attackers play well. Think he edges it for me, just because he's not as good as we all believe he could be and needs to not take corners, doesn't mean he's not still been excellent again. 2nd in assist table is pretty impressive. RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-05-2024 Best player overall MGW, the team is built around him and I really hope will continue to be. Honorable mentions Best youngster and best newcomer Murillo, biggest prospect here in years Best value signing Aina Mr Consistency award Yates for yet again upstaging supposedly better footballers Most improved player Williams Pleasant surprise Hudson Odoi just because it will upset Username RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - McDurban - 12-05-2024 Gibbs White for me, shipped too many goals and too many from set pieces, the defence has to hold its hand up. Agree. Plus- Most disappointing player- Felipe (for all the right reasons- we know how good he was- very regrettable) Most disappointing signing- Sangare (for all the wrong reasons- we expected him to be great but he runs and turns like one of EM’s tanker fleet). Biggest sicknote- taiwo, despite some strong competition! Biggest relief- Arter is finally going! RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - BomberBowyer - 13-05-2024 For me it’s MGW as although there are areas to improve in his game (ahem set pieces, shooting) he is so important to the team. He always puts in a shift trying to drive us forward and make things happen. He is a joy to watch play. Murillo is a close second and is going to be some player and watching him and MGW in the same team has been a pleasure. Sadly we are probably going to have to lose one or both but if so, pleased we had them for the time we did. Whilst I agree with your sentiment about us shipping too many goals from set pieces (we are all well aware we need to get a grip on this issue), not all of the goals shipped from corners/free kicks etc can be blamed on Murillo. A lot of the lapses came from poor attention by the full backs, not just the centre backs. I would like to guess that Murillo has probably made at least one block or challenge that has saved us from conceding another goal per game. If it hadnt been for Murillo in the first half against Sheff Utd, we couldve gone in at half time two or three goals down and lost that game and we wouldve been in the bottom three now! Whilst there are elements to his game that need to be worked on, some aspects of his game are phenomenal and we are clearly blessed we have him. He is still a young lad, with so much more to learn and he will only get even better. RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - ozzyten10 - 13-05-2024 I’d say he has cost us a fair few but his passing and recovery has been a huge net gain. RE: 2023/24 Player Of The Season - DR Forest - 13-05-2024 I don’t have any stats to back this up so may be wrong but I just feel that there is a correlation with conceding from set pieces and Serge leaving us. We seem to have conceded quite a few from near post headers where serge would have been. He was prone to leaving his man but very decent in the air. Add to that boly’s injuries and the demise of Felipe and it’s not hard to see why we might be weaker in the air. Not to mention JW…. |
