Life long, his Dad was former chairman, so he grew up with the club. He's always been Olympiakos mad. His second/English club was Liverpool, he was big on them, especially in the mid 80's RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 11-11-2018 (31-08-2018, 06:43 PM)woody Wrote: Well..... does anyone else know? Serious question. I think we are good and as the season goes on I think we will be very good. We have lost just two league games all season. How is that not good? RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - Salvatore Matrecano - 11-11-2018 I still think this is a very relevant question. That we are competitive is in no doubt at all as the stats bare out. But Karanka sets us up to get results which means a safety first approach primarily, not playing the stellar football that stands out. It is proven to be effective and got his Boro team and others promotion in the past ie you dont necessarily have to be the best team. In my opinion there are about 10 pretty evenly matched teams in the top half any one of whom can go on a bit of a run and end up promoted. I did think of starting a separate thread but maybe continue on this one, the question being more “What type of football do we want to see?” A lot of us want to be more attacking and in particular dominate the game more, in other words be a bit more like Derby unfortunately. However they have a more settled squad, experienced quality players and probably more attacking options. And it didnt do them much good yesterday did it? So Karanka is playing to his strengths, its not always pretty but it will get us thereabouts. We could be more attacking but end up with fewer points, but is that... excuse the phrase...the Forest way? Im guessing after 20 years most of us dont care we just want results. RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - ThePromisedLand - 11-11-2018 I want winning football - let’s get the basics right first. We cannot hope to immediately compete & play an open, expansive game so quickly against clubs who have got much more expensively constructed squads with the experience & financial benefit of having spent time in the Premier League. Patience guys - the priority is surely promotion. How we get there I’m not too fussed. RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - Username - 11-11-2018 Forest have played Boro, Sheff Utd, Leeds and Stoke in recent weeks. They haven't lost and have conceded just once (and that one came courtesy of abject cheating). RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - Paplane - 11-11-2018 Weve stopped conceding 2 goals a game and played some decent teams meaning the goal tally has gone down at the other end. This is not Karanka playing a dont loose type of game, its just us battling away to get points off decent sides. The top 2 are still in sight and are nit getting away meaning we're currently as good as anyone in the division. And, given the teams weve played recently id say we're showing top 2 form. The true test now will be maximising our points return in the next few games against teams we should beat if we're the real deal. Ive seen nothing to suggest we can't get 9 points from Hull, Villa, Ipswich, and Preston. RE: I Have No Idea If We Are Any Good? - Username - 24-12-2018 Current stats suggest we’re higher placed than our performances merit. |
