Off the top of my head...... Pukki - Free Lolley 500k Vaulks 1.5m Olivera 2.5m Marriot 3m Grosicki 3m Dowell Loan Throw McGinn into that mix and you've an entire quality midfield & frontline for the same price Carvalho cost. I get us investing so much in players like Carvalho if we are then going to invest further to get the best from him & round out the squad into a genuine Prem outfit. However, I don't get investing so much in him, to then be keft to rely on fairly wildcard options elsewhere like Cash at RB & some of the unknowns we've bought in. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - ozzyten10 - 24-07-2019 I’m not so sure it was 13m. We’ll find out in next years accounts. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Username - 24-07-2019 What’s with every thread getting spammed on the same issue? Rowell was bang average, 2 of those players weren’t available, pukki was a proper journeyman till last year. Did some research on last season’s championship: Osoro - 2.5m D John - 800k Barrie McKay - 500k James McLean - 5m Kyle Bartley - 4m O Nyland - 2.7m Paddy McNair - 5m Waghorn - 5m Marriot - 3m Josefzoon - 3m John Egan - 4m Webster - 3m Jack Hunt - 1.5m I’m going to stop now, that’s just a list of players under 5m from last summer, how many of them would you want? The obvious point is obviously for every pukki there’s an Osoro. Spending 2-3m doesn’t guarantee you the great team you’re expecting RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - Alf - 24-07-2019 (24-07-2019, 10:28 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(24-07-2019, 10:11 PM)Alf Wrote:(24-07-2019, 09:33 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(24-07-2019, 07:59 PM)Alf Wrote:(24-07-2019, 07:57 PM)Karanka red Wrote: 6m for grabban too so not sure I agree with you. Which only strengthens my point & request - we need to get better with our recruitment. Clubs don't recruit averagely every year. The good ones do it well. That's one of the thing we need to do in order to be good. I'm not expecting every signing to be spot on. But by investing 13m in 1 player we don't give ourselves a chance. RE: Evangelos Marinakis And Co - wassy04 - 24-07-2019 Surely spending 13m increases our chances to sign the player that can be the superstar player. Spending scattergun 2-3m on a load of random players is likely to lead to another load of Clough a and Cummings filling up the squad. Out of interest are you also advocating trimming the squad down? Your point is well made. Cherry picking poor signings and ignoring good signings doesn’t really demonstrate anything. It wasn't 13M and I don't care what the accounts say, good accountants have their ways. NFFC Financial Talk - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 25-07-2019 To stop other threads from getting derailed. All NFFC financial talk can now go in it's own thread. RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Fumanchew - 25-07-2019 [attachment=418] [attachment=419] This is everyone’s annual reminder that Norwich were in the last year of parachute payments that they lost their way in their 2nd season down this time but basically had a core of players that were prem quality and needed to make adjustments and additions RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Sabricadabra - 25-07-2019 Focusing on transfer fees is misleading. Transfer fees are one part of a club’s spending, but player salaries usually have a greater impact on a club’s finances. In the most recent accounts the club was spending 29mil per annum on wages. Spending on wages is greater than the club’s income, as it is for most other Championship clubs. As Fumanchew points out, Norwich were able to pay higher wages because of parachute payments. RE: NFFC Financial Talk - Camms - 25-07-2019 Another reason that the purse strings might have been tightened a bit is because from the end of this season our capacity will be cut by about one third for around two seasons. That will have a large impact on our matchday income. |
