A shorter one this morning as not really watched to much QPR so far.
This mid-week game see forest take on QPR who is managed by ex-forest manager Warbs. QPR are a typical Warbs team setting up in a 4-2-3-1 formation who will either beat you or lose.
QPR play a Possession game and look to control the tempo of the match through short passes building up from the back before bursting into life in the final third where they do possess some real pace and clinical finishing.
Do to the amount of possession they have during games teams foul them often, resulting in a high number of yellow cards given to their opposition. Giving away free kicks in dangerous areas is something forest will need to weary of as one of QPR’s strengths is shooting from dead ball situations and they are also highly ranged on the second ball reaction stats.
QPR’s strengths are in attack as you would expect with Warbs in charge and they do look to create chances using through balls to wide area and then generally look to cut in and have long range efforts.
When defending QPR’s strength is to mob players with the ball and steal the ball back in their own half rather than pressing from the front. This tactic is helped by the defence playing for offside on final third defensive line.
How do you get at them?
It’s strange as I feel like I am writing how do you beat Forest under Warbs.
When QPR have the ball it is really a case of Forest doing what they do under SL. Set traps and wait for the individual errors to occur and counter attack. QPR’s player stats show that they do make individual errors often and it does seem to be based around making that extra one pass to many for the sake of passing.
Also worth noting that QPR are regularly caught offside and this could allow forest to play with a higher line to condense play further up the pitch and create more errors in dangerous areas.
Without the ball QPR have struggled to defend attacks down the wings and preventing crosses into the box. QPR’s defence are considered slow at recovery runs and has resulted in them lunging into tackles rather than standing up and delay the attacks. Teams who have had ref’s who wait to call fouls rather than blow right away have created a high volume of big chances.
Like the Forest of old QPR struggle with corners and seem to mark zonal with the front post loaded and the GK deeper back post to catch the high balls.
Match prediction.
I am slightly concerned about what midfield Forest will put out this match but I believe we should come away with the win 2-0 to the Forest

Here's my team for Saturday. I'm really split between playing Bostock and Carvalho in midfield by went for Bostock in the end as Carvaho & Silva are just too lightweight in midfield together.

We've got the thugs over from Cardiff on Saturday so that may affect Mouchi's selection. Maybe Adomah comes in for that game. Also, with Dawson in mind I cant see how the Wozza Figs partnership can be broken up while the pair continue to provide clean sheets but Dawson may add heading capability to that game(?)

Semedo (or Sow for that matter) would have been on the bench on Saturday had he been fit. Bostock was there, so for me that suggests he's performed well in training recently to earn a place on the bench.

You could be right but I suspect it was more to do with the lack of fitness of others ( Sow & Semedo ) & the continued banishment of Yacob.

I agree Jock. It's only a matter of time before the Carvalho to Olympiakos rumours gather momentum unless he grabs his chance with both hands when it comes.
I would start him at QPR.

Agreed. The lack of mobility which the Watson + Bostock combo saddles us with is scary. I'd much sooner Silva drop back, even though that's still not a great option.
