Voted Cloughie for being superb over many years - even when doing a job at Centre Half. Also helped other good players become great or better. Webby, Psycho and Franz Carr were beneficiaries of Cloughies brilliant vision and footballering brain. He also scored plenty.
Stan for two years though reached heights of brilliance that few if any other centre forward has in my living memory. Never saw ISM play so cant compare. Honourable mentions for Birtles, Woodcock, Davenport.

As much as I admire Clough, it has to be Stan, a football genius when playing in the Garibaldi, sadly we will never see such magic again, we would never be able to afford it now, what amazing memories!

Only go back as far as late 70’s but Stan is the best forward I’ve ever seen live for any team, not just Forest. Nobody else comes close. Me old man always said Joe Baker was the closest to him followed by Duncan McKenzie and Trevor Francis. All them listed above were great players but Stan was a one off. Had everything, only lacked on the mental side of things which was his ultimate undoing.

i did seriously think about voting for Joe Baker, but as he was before my time and TV footage of him is quite scarce, I opted to go for Stan the Man. Could i have voted for a club legend purely on hearsay? Not really.
A part of me did think about PVH but like as been said previously, his attitude towards the end stopped me from voting for him.
Nigel was an absolute dream of a player also, but i remember Nigel being more of a link between midfield and striker, a typical No. 10 player. Great vision and technique though. One of the best in our lifetime without a doubt.
But Stan just had the explosive burst in him, he had charisma, a positivity not often seen anymore, he had self belief to the point of arrogance and he knew how to hit the net from anywhere within 25-30 yards of the goal.

Can't argue with most of that, however I think the fact that Nigels skill, technique and link play is always -quite rightly- remembered, disguises the goalscoring record he had. 101 goals in 308 league games-all the top division, 22 in 46 League Cup. 6 in 30 FA Cup games. His bravery receiving the ball with his back to the centre halves (in an era where tackling from behind was ok) was also impressive. I always thought he was better than Beardsley, but due to a lack of pace (and Scouse bias) never got ahead of him in England pecking order.
That said, cant disagree with your assessment of Stan-he had the lot, but if being brutal a waste of talent after he left us. One great season in the top flight with us-but one we will never forget.
Imagine if the two of them had been in the same side!

it's a shame about the Stan the Man, "I count helping to keep Southend in the First Division in my season there as one of my finest achievements."

Stan was awesome but I don't think he could pick a pass like Nigel could, then again Stan could turn and run with the ball better than Nigel.
Both fantastic. It's a very close call but it's Nigel for me. Just.

Stan was electrifying to watch, for the 2 years we had him he was at the peak of his career, one of the best players in the country.
However I voted for the player who achieved the most and simply with one header made us european champions.
