Aina played the final of the last Afcon with an injury, came back injured obviously and didn’t play for us again until 30th March.

Yes but they'd still have to be registered so they'd take up a squad place.

I googled it. For injury greater than 28days the club gets compensation; no compensation for the first 28 days, then salary covered for days affected after that. Money comes from a FIFA pot, and it’s capped per year. That pot will need topping up with their ridiculous calendar.
Sorry if this offends, but avoid signing African players if possible. The timing and frequency of that tournament and the inability of their associations to provide top level of player care is a liability.
Aurier and Kouyate both came back with injuries in the past too.
