For the 22 league games he has been in charge this year, with a transfer window, his win percentage is 36%, my question was how far have we come? I don’t think 36% will get us promoted next season if you compare it with teams at the top of the table we really need a good transfer window as we have stood still for long enough. Sure, so 36% is a lot better than 0%. A 36% increase you might say... I'm confused though you're suggesting we need a good transfer window but also insinuating you'd perhaps like yet another change in manager. That would not only be standing still, it would be going backwards. I feel like this is the same pointless debate every time we go on a remotely bad run. I'm just going to repeat the same stats over and over. We can't compete due to parachute payments so we're always going to struggle. The only way to succeed in that scenario is a slow build with a good crop of young players at the same time. I feel like people want that but then they also want to sack CH and bring in Mourinho. For once let's go into a season with some positivity even if it's slightly fake. Accept we're not a promotion team because we don't have the budget so let's do a slow build and back a manager and be as supportive as possible so the owner doesn't have any more ammunition to make a change. I’m sorry that you are reading something into the above comments that doesn’t exist, I was just stating facts and asking how far we have come. It’s no coincidence that two of the promoted teams were the ones relegated last season, and I expect the newly relegated teams from the premiership will be up there next season and realistically leaving all other clubs fighting for reduced promotion spots., maybe even only one. That doesn’t mean that I want a change of manager as I believe that Ch has the potential to take us upwards and onwards , but I don’t think he will achieve our owners expectations which, I’m guessing is promotion and no excuses and in the 21-22 season. It’s ok having positivity but temper it with realism. We are not a promotion team, we won’t be next season and then our owner would have run out of patience and the whole cycle will start all over again. A good transfer window may improve us somewhat but will only delay the inevitable demise of possibly the best manager we’ve had for a while. Hopefully that removes your confusion. Ha that's almost exactly what I said! Apologies, 'the let's sack every manager that doesn't get us top of the league whilst scoring 4 a game' group are out in Full force, just misread that wasn't you above. Sorry, been getting pretty frustrated reading about people wanting to sack yet another manager. It's exhausting. Data without context is meaningless. Unlike Sabri, Karanka and Warburton, Hughton did not have the luxury of a pre season to get to know the players. He also had less transfer windows to get players in; Warburton also had just the one window but his was a summer window where more business is done. Considering he operated under a transfer embargo, Freedman comes out best of the lot on the raw data. If you breakdown Hughton's win ratio into two parts - the games before the January window and the games after, you will see an improvement from 22% to 36% - an improvement of 14% comes on the back of Hughton getting in three of his own players. A similar improvement next season, after a summer window to shape the squad to his liking, will see a win ratio jump to 50% - that will be sufficient to get a top 6 finish. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Fumanchew - 25-04-2021 I think we can all agree that we came back for preseason too late and CH had to deal with that and also a squad that until that preseason heard nothing from their manager after a dreadful spiral that ended with the 4-1 loss to Stoke. No wonder they lost 5 games! CH came in and had to implement a fitness programme to try and get us going until Christmas until he could look at bringing more players in. He also had to contend with not having his first choice centre half pairing till 2021 and also Grabban going from scoring 20 goals to scoring diddly squat! A proper preseason A proper summer transfer window A proper end of season man management He probably knows right now who won’t be re-signing contracts and those in on loan who he might get again. If they’re not working on targeting positions right now and whilst on holiday then I’ll be very surprised! The fact he went to watch Johnson this week shows the player that he wants him in the side next season and believes he can perform just as well as a first team champ player. We have come from being bottom of the league when CH took over to being where we are now with someone else's team. CH has not had the luxury of a summer yet like the other manager's mentioned above. I am sorry but you cannot underestimate the importance of that. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - TheGreenMan - 26-04-2021 I’d still like to know what Barnsley’s manager excuse is for getting them into a play off position with someone else’s team???? No doubt they’ve over achieved aswell. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ozzyten10 - 26-04-2021 Fact is we were rock bottom and hadn’t won in 10 games when he came in. We had a terrible unbalanced squad and injuries to best players. CH has done his job- safety and built from the back. Next season will be better- it has to be... I only know and care about what goes on at the CG. Bit unfair comparing CH to a team that have impressively but fairly randomly massively overachieved. How about comparing him to almost every other manager? |
