RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 28-04-2021 I still think we have the best man here too but I have to admit I was expecting to see more improvement than we have done. I can understand the views of those who dont like CH and think his style of play is dated, That doesnt mean I want him gone though, more than anything I want to see stability. You asked for a name if it does come to it and purely hypothetical how about the Nathan Jones/Chris Cohen combo. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 28-04-2021 To be honest SM despite me thinking CH is the best man for the job I was also expecting a bit more improvement but I think that with us having nothing to play for and with some player's knowing they won't be here next season and with having no crowds in etc it all kind of just fizzled out and went flat. Having said that though I remain optimistic for next season and I'm already looking forward to it. Can't deny that Jones and C0hen are doing a cracking job at Luton. Yeah I am the same, I thought we'd have caught up closer to the level of QPR and it did look like on the back of the Garner/Krov signings we were closer to that. Just seem to have faded back since then, since Ameobi got injured. I am more hopeful than optimistic for next season, lets see what the team looks like in August first. My main worry is we lose the first few games and we're back to square one again once everyone turns on the manager. I've not been that impressed by CH really, aside from his CV. Some odd selections, a lack of use for Mighten early on, odd use of subs. However, that's a world away from wanting us to sack another manager. It just seems you either have to be in love with the manager or they're gone, what's wrong with being in between. We’d get shot down whoever we suggest Sniff. Obviously there’s no comparison to Sir Chris Hughton. Let him get us up before we start calling him Sir. You can have doubts about CH but not want him to be sacked you know. That is an option. If you started a new job, would you be expected to be as good as someone in an equivalent role within a few weeks? No, you'd need time to understand the company or system, the nuances, get to know your staff, how to maximise their strengths and weakenesses and improve productivity etc. I really don't know why there is a desperation for someone to be sacked every time they aren't perfect. I do sympathise with the complaints about the football though, it is pretty boring. What's better watching losing football where you concede loads and score some or winning 1-0 every week? I'm willing to bet in the moment you'd prefer option B. Winning is way more fun come on (I know we're not winning yet) RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - TheGreenMan - 28-04-2021 (28-04-2021, 01:27 PM)Sniffer Dog Wrote:(28-04-2021, 12:32 PM)TheGreenMan Wrote:(28-04-2021, 08:48 AM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: No need at all but it was just a simple question to those who want him gone yet nobody could come up with an answer. Chris Hughton taking us up :) :) :) Can I have some of what you’re on today :D :D :D RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - TheGreenMan - 28-04-2021 (28-04-2021, 01:39 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(28-04-2021, 12:32 PM)TheGreenMan Wrote:(28-04-2021, 08:48 AM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: No need at all but it was just a simple question to those who want him gone yet nobody could come up with an answer. To be honest with you Wassy I didn’t want him in the first place and he’s done absolutely nothing to convince me otherwise. His football has been dull and unimaginable, just how I thought it would be and I’m fed up of hearing the same old excuses that they’re not his players, he needs time etc etc. I just want a manager who knows how to attack & knows how to defend... Not to much to ask for surely, there’s plenty of managers in this division who know how to do it, they loose the odd game and play poorly the odd game, but overall we know what they’re trying to achieve. I’ve just had enough of this club appointing negative dinosaur managers. Like I said the other day, I’d love nothing more than to eat a massive piece of humble pie this time next year....We’ll just have to see won’t we? RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 28-04-2021 Would you like Ice Cream or Custard with that GreenMan :) RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - wassy04 - 28-04-2021 (28-04-2021, 02:59 PM)TheGreenMan Wrote:(28-04-2021, 01:39 PM)wassy04 Wrote:(28-04-2021, 12:32 PM)TheGreenMan Wrote:(28-04-2021, 08:48 AM)Sniffer Dog Wrote: No need at all but it was just a simple question to those who want him gone yet nobody could come up with an answer. I get it, I really think you're over-estimating the impact of the majority of managers on the team, it's mainly the players and the ability of the players that will decide how a team does. I agree the manager sets the style of play and I don't enjoy this style. I also really don't see many examples of other teams playing more exciting styles either. They simply score more goals because they are winning more games and have better teams. I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, just that it's pretty difficult to find them and they are often pretty random. It's not like we've had any luck so far randomly hitting on an exciting/winning manager. I would prefer to follow the statistics and logic that suggests the longer someone is there, the greater positive impact and influence they are able to have. I think ultimately winning football is good football, doesn't matter how you get there. So let's hope a positive summer leads to that pie next year, even if it's only a small slice!
