RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Fumanchew - 03-05-2021 I’ve read that hughton’s training sessions are suppose to be tough, I know he had to implement some sort of mini pre-season conditioning when he arrived but maybe he’s not wanted to jeopardise the season by going full pelt when he came seeing as he had to learn what kinda players he had. Perhaps with a real pre-season and I don’t mean the games, actually training plan for players etc during their offseason and then not coming back late like we did last year that it’ll have the desired effect! RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Mcforest - 03-05-2021 I think it is case we need to just accept we aren't as good as we think we should be and that we need a few seasons of sorting ourselves out. This season i feel was more what players do we have and how can we play, rather than a this is how i want us to play and these are the players who can deliver this. I still have massive doubts over CH and his way of playing in general. But i would rather see us play boring ridged football and come away with wins and points on the board with the view of building towarrds something rather than trying to play a more open, flair and exciting brand of football and getting beat each week. Boring and ridged at least gives a base to build on. They played some good attacking football I remember it well. I live in hope but think Lolley and Colback could be pretty useful to us if they get a full injury free preseason under their belts. Only 2 seasons ago they were both fairly outstanding. If either one of them can repeat that form, then will be a huge boost. Aside from that, Chris Hughton has a big job, but is definitely the man to complete it. One more game to go... RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ozzyten10 - 04-05-2021 Fans back in. A manager with his feet firmly under the desk. Musings that we can modestly invest. Return of Brennan. Optimistic me! RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Uwantlee - 05-05-2021 I really don’t understand the people wanting CH to go. IMO he has done a good job this season with what is a terrible squad. When he came in he had 14 players new to the club who had been signed based on past performance and were not what we needed. He had a striker who was and still is bang out of form and needs to go. If anything I am impressed he has kept us up. More impressed with what he had done for us defensively. 5th best in the league is not to be sniffed at. Give him a summer to add some attacking flare and train the team with a proper full season and things will change. It’s not like we didn’t create chances this season our players just couldn’t score them. Time to move on the likes of grabban, Taylor, freeman, knockaert, arter, Fred and bring in players capable of doing the job. Or let’s get rid of CH and start all over again with a manager who doesn’t know the squad and will take most of the summer deciding what is needed meaning we miss out on players as we have left it too late. He had a striker who was and still is bang out of form and needs to go. I think so. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Especially in Forest's case. We've had too many players who can't score a goal. Had Hughton had the Summer to recruit them we can only imagine what might have happened to add to that 5th best defensive stat. We'll probably keep Grabban though. (And maybe use him in a different role as a no.2 off the new main striker.) SA. You said it yourself above PSS 'Hughton's first FULL season'. They were at a disadvantage to all the teams that did have full pre-season, a full summer with an 'outstanding' candidate able to take advantage of those factors. Some teams are years ahead in their preparation and consistency. And it shows in the league table. SA. Boring and ridged at least gives a base to build on. It's a bite of reality sandwich for those supporters expect Hughton to get Forest top 6 with Sabri's crap squad. Forest were dreadful for most of the 2nd half of last year. This isn't a side that was performing great after Sabri was sacked. They were rock bottom. Having lost 6 straight matches with a poor run of results in pre-season. They were unfit, mediocre and ill prepared. Psychologically shot. 'Stability' was called for. Otherwise, we were going down. That might not suit the free flowing romantics. But the fact remains you can't coach goal scoring. You either have it in your squad or you buy some in. As an interim, you shut up shop. And yes. That means rigid football. Hughton brought in much better players in Jan'. Less of them. I'm keen to see what he can do with a full Summer. In Sabri's time here. Can anyone name a decent striker that he brought in? The last decent striker we brought in was Grabban. That was years ago. SA. It lacks goal scorers. 5th best defensive record is something to build on. Build from the back. SA.
