RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Fumanchew - 09-05-2021 And so the argument goes round again why are we blaming Hughton for all the missed chances that Grabban had this season. That he missed absolute sitters this season is a fact and not just opinion, as we know when fit he was the number one choice to lead the line how must you feel as attacking team mates when you keep feeding the 20 goal a season striker and he constantly whiffs! no wonder other attacking players were taking pot shots in the vain hope of scoring as they started to not trust his shooting boots. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Widdow - 09-05-2021 Yeah so none of the bad results are Hughtons fault, it’s the players he had at his disposal. So can blame the folk behind the transfers, which I did last summer before a ball had been kicked, and all the usual suspects came on supporting the transfers and that we had built a good squad, and top 6 was the aim. Now all agreeing that the majority of players are not good enough that have been brought in my this regime. I am sure won’t be long into the season that you’ll all be calling for Hughtons head, (if he stays)! And I have also many times posted if he does stay, he has to have the whole season, come what May and see it through. That’s what stability is, especially if he brings in all his own players and can turn them all into world beaters with a full pre season. I’m gonna need you to break down your points because you obviously have someone in mind off the bench that was clinically over looked or someone in the first team that was used to the point of exhaustion? Who would you have used in the final 20? Colback for yates every game? RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - tugger2018 - 09-05-2021 I heard yesterday that all our games had the least amount of goals ( total goals for and against ) than all the teams in the bottom 3 leagues Ie. We are the most boring team out there RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - stirred - 09-05-2021 (09-05-2021, 09:15 PM)tugger2018 Wrote: I heard yesterday that all our games had the least amount of goals ( total goals for and against ) Average goals per club in bottom 3 leagues: 112. Nottingham Forest & Stevenage have had the least goals at 82, then a gap to Southend at 87. Only 4 Premier League clubs have seen less, and they've only played 34/35 matches. They all average over 2 goals a match though, well above our average. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Fumanchew - 09-05-2021 Well at least it’s not Cus we are shipping 2/3 goals a game that would bring the total up! Looking just hughtons 42 games we scored 37 and let in 38. Only the top 4 let in less goals then us take out sabri then only the top 2 let in less. But if you want the numbers bigger be my guest we could be like the 7 teams below us that let in 60+ goals. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - optimistic_red - 10-05-2021 We all know the problem this season, we didn't score enough goals. Had a look at our results over the year. if we scored an extra goal every other game we'd be 21 points better off. That would take us to 60 goals for the season. 7 teams scored more than that so that is achievable. We managed that recently in 18/19 and 16/17. I don't think there is a simple answer to why we scored so few goals, who's fault etc. Blaming a striker or manager is over simplification to me. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - ozzyten10 - 10-05-2021 The only stats that matter are goals and points. However, my lad said something insightful whilst watching v Preston- he said “last year we had less chances in games and scored more… I think we are playing better and just not scoring”. We have been on the whole strong defensively and had plenty of shots. I’m not into xG but others that are a comparison between 19-20 and 20-21 would be good to look at. The article above is very encouraging in that it suggests that Marinakis is wholly committed, as frustrated as us and willing to change things. I wonder if GB has been tasked with identifying the issues and structure needed and had an input into all this. Even better if CH has also been involved. Insightful post. At the end of the end, you have to recruit players that can score. SA. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sabricadabra - 11-05-2021 The stats that matter are goals for, goals against, and points. Goal difference is a better measure than goals scored for this reason. Only focussing on goals scored is like only focussing on win percentage and ignoring loss percentage. We had one of the better goal differences in the bottom half of the table which suggests a small swing to goals scored, i.e being more clinical in front of goal, would make a big difference. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Plymouth red - 11-05-2021 You could argue that the difference between this season and last season comes down to Grabban. In terms are goals conceded, we conceded 45 this year compared to 50 the previous year. We scored however 37 compared to 58. Had Grabban maintained the form of pre lockdown 19/20 season then the outcome of this season would be very different. Ultimately there were enough chances created but poor finishing from our strikers cost us dearly. |
