Rowett said on the sky coverage on Friday night that we look like a side that's 'well coached'.
Yates may well go up another gear if Sabri get's him going.

Well said. I'm very pleased for Worrall, Dawson, Watson and Cash. I like it when a Coach recognises what a player brings to the table and gets the best out of what they can offer rather than expecting them to be something they are not.
Yates is good enough and he is fit enough. Yates has ability. He looks for a forward pass. He does get in the box and gets stuck in. He has that Cohen-esque desire for Forest, to drive the team on. However, he is young, like Worrall, and will improve with a bit of coaching. A pocket rocket Keane? Time will tell on that one.
Yates was a revelation pre-season last year alongside Geddy. He has a will to win, a leader on the pitch and a sound character to have in the dressing room. He seemed a progressive influence in midfield at that point in time.
Midfield has been a problem area for Forest in recent times. And as Malta's posts on the matter indicated last season, Forest had 'half' a midfield. A reborn Watson and adding the power of Samba have been transformative. The latter will be crucial in maintaining a top 6 place. He was a key addition and catalyst in Forest's transformation in midfield.
Yates had showed a marked improvement playing alongside Watson last season (who himself, had been written off...) in a similar way that Worrall, alongside Dawson, has taken himself to the next level of adding consistency and more composure to this game. There's a bit of passing on the torch to the next generation. I do like to see this apprenticeship and master roles in the team. I think it adds something, a balance, a blend of youth and experience. Both of which bring different things to the team.
I'd be very interested to have Yates, Watson and Samba in that midfield. Lots of power, energy, leadership and experience with that youthful exuberance. All good sized units. For too long, Forest have been a side of hobbits and not elves.
The recruitment this Summer seems to have added pace, power, height and size. Robust? But can play a bit types. Funnily enough, it seems to be working...
Yates fits into that category at the very least. He's robust and can play a bit.

They can call him what he likes if helps Forest get promoted.
He's got to recover from his knee operation 1st. That will take a bit of time. Then he's got a fight to get back into a Forest side that went top without him.
But an injury to Watson (see Dawson getting injured...) or Samba being suspended for a few games and things can change.
Luckily Forest have a bit of depth this season. And Yates is worth at least a place on the subs bench if he's fit.

Unfortunately we can now add Samba Sow but hopefully be no more than 3 or 4 weeks.
