RE: Next Manager The Runners & Riders - Portchester Tricky - 06-10-2020

Just read an article from the Bristol Post explaining why the fans wanted him. This was in July this year. When he took Newcastle up it was on 102 points. His preferred formation was 442 apparently with Nolan and Carrol getting 17 goals each.
I know City went with someone else, but it is an interesting read. He also took Brighton up. Put it this way , he can't do any worse than SL can he ?

For all of you leaning towards Pearson, be careful what you wish for!.............

Nursey now saying Hughton is top choice, it has to be out those 3 really, would be happy with any of them.

“EXCLUSIVE: The Reds' Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis has been left shocked by the poor start to the campaign and a parting of ways is now very close.”

From those 3, I would lean more towards Howe. Hughton and Pearson are both too similar to Sabri in that they both also prefer 4-2-3-1 and both are reluctant to deviate away from that formation and continue to play the same way, irrespective of how the team is doing.

Howe does prefer to play 4-4-1-1 but will revert to a 4-4-2 when needed. Howe also used Arter as his box to box midfielder effectively and would possibly get the best out of Arter, should he come here. Whether Howe would be interested in coming here is another matter entirely though, and I don't think he would want to come this far north. I think he is holding out for a PL/Championship side based in the south, as he left Burnley a few years back due to 'family' reasons.

i'd say more positives than negatives in that article, after all he was the 4th Watford manager in a shortish space of time?  7 points adrift on arrival and were 3 points clear when he got the push, never ideal taking over in December.

He stuck by a 4 2 3 1 system, from memory they seemed a side that created plenty of chances, but being at the bottom, under huge pressure, this is probably when you stick with a system.

Many managers run into bad form and crash and burn, Pearson has hit bad ruts in form but on quite a few occassions found the answers in the face of adversity, Leicester virtually the only club bottom at Xmas to survive and finished 13th for example.

The only real accusation was that he stuck to his system as if that was wrong, this is a team totally out of form generally, the other accusation that Watford tended to concede first in games, i still can't help but think they would of still been in the PL if he had stayed for the last couple of games, but who knows, who cares.

My goodness we ain't half paying for the golden years with the great man. Seem cursed since . I don't believe in the super natural so the Club must keep doing something wrong in the last 27 years.
