Silva played exclusively LW and RW last season for Aris. Apart from a handful of games a couple of seasons ago at CF for West Ham u23s. can't call him a striker.

With the best will in the world, you can't call Silva a striker?
I said in the above post, there is the chance that the general upgrade in the attacking line (strikers exempted) may bring out the best in Grabban and Lyle. (With upgraded service this is the last chance saloon for both Lyle and Grabban. They're old. There were plenty of outcries about Murphy's age when Warburton signed him. We've since gone on to have strikers in the 31, 34 and 36 age range...). It's ironic that we mention Grabban as a striker as he was the last one Forest spent serious money on. He perhaps highlights the flaw in the recruitment strategy over the last 4 years. 3 and counting for another striker to come in of that kind of quality.
CH hasn't been able to get them firing so far. But he and they haven't had the players or mix to provide the service perhaps. We'll soon find out! :)
We do have strikers. Old ones. Past their prime. And struggling to cope 'mixing' it with the Championship muck and nettles games. Taylor spends alot of his time on his az with his hands in the air and Lewis isn't as sharp as he was. He's getting old. We all are. It is fair to suggest we don't have strikers in line with our 'Plan B.' Yet.
As for Silva. Dropping division may afford his position some luxury as a converted striker? If he can play there and make a go of it then nobody will care. We'll see if he can be a converted winger to striker like T' Henry? Or Brennan Perhaps? Or a mix of Silva and Brennan up front? Silva may provide the chaos that allows Lyle or Grabban to score.
We'll know more when Forest play next.

The problem is, no matter who plays 'striker' for us just isnt allowed to play the strikers role very often. Normally our 'striker' is to be found out on the wing chasing after a long diagonal punt from one of our full backs or holding up play in the middle of the oppositions half, waiting for support from our midfield, when it should be our midfield being in that same area allowing our 'striker' to get further forward. We never allow or play sufficiently well in bringing play forward enough for our 'striker' to do his job inside the box and sadly, when that has happened in the past, those chances have been wasted

Good points.
We got very lucky with Cash. But maybe not. He was bit ropy to begin with at RB but adapted and the rest is history. He could play nearly anywhere with his energy bunny style of football. I would have liked to have seen more of him in CM to drive Forest forwards. A player whose energy have missed in our lethargic malaise since him leaving. And only further highlights why you need quality fullbacks to start a season. Home grown too!

On paper Silva looks an awful buy to me. Barely any games to his name, career hampered by significant injuries, and at 24 has only scored a handful of goals, mostly in a league which is below the competitive standard of the Championship.
If Hughton squeezes anything out of him I'll be amazed. Here's hoping though.

Some ignorance here.
Many coaches spoke of Cash being made to be a full-back. I think there was a fear to do it so young in his career, but he is made to be a modern day full-back. Warburton is the first to have mentioned the idea of him.

If we can move up the table and use the January window to bring in a specialist striker to pursue an outside run at the top 6, I'd be happy to see Forest building window on window with their transfer business as evidence we're 'serious' (about promotion ;) about 'Plan B.'
The biggest problem with Hughton was the timing of his arrival. The pre-season and recruitment had been all done and the team crashed before he arrived. Sabri left a team with shattered confidence. Thus last year become a salvage operation. Following another Summer of disruption to the pre-season and slow recruitment, Forest have got off to a poor start.
For me, the season begins at Cardiff. He's got ten players and a mini-pre-season with the International Break to grab the squad by the scruff of the neck. Nothing would please me more than Forest rhubarbing Cardiff. But that will be a tough game. And I expect Forest to grind out some results until we hit mid-table then the football may become less cautious.
I've always felt with any manager. Give them their own players. And some time. Hughton wanted a smaller squad. He's got one.
December sounds about right. If it's not working then and Forest are adrift in the bottom 3 then the inevitable comes for any manager. It is what it is. If Forest can actually pull away from this 'crisis management' that we've had for nearly a season and achieve escape velocity then we can start sticking our chests out.
Hopefully, a couple of wins puts Forest mid-table and the 'mind set' can change from one of attrition to cautious optimism.

Completely agree with all of this! I hope it all starts to click for CH now. Will be great for us and a reward for the owners being patient and pulling the plug. In my mind, we have to give CH a fair crackpot the Whip.
