Yes.
Had Hughton had 'that' pre-season and '14' of 'his' own players, no way Forest battle relegation last season or start this season bottom.
What's killed Forest the last 4 seasons? The sheer shocking timing of replacing managers along with not backing them and sticking with them.
The mid-season transitions completely torpedo the season. We went even better with Sabri. We pulled the trigger way too late. And the new manager is stuck with no pre-season and 14 journey man players who 'Don't run hard enough.'

To be fair SA, to its credit I really think the club tried to stick with Sabri as long as it could. They only pulled the trigger when it was clear he and the side was lost.

The bit about bringing in “their own players” is BS too in my opinion see posts from JL, I am in complete agreement and think that is why we keep getting in a mess. Weirdly the anomaly in all that might just be Sabri, I doubt many on here seriously believe he had much input in last summers signings.

Yes if its CH bringing in "his guys", Knockaert, Murray etc.
However, if its bringing in someone that wants to play a certain style and some players don't fit into that then that's where you need to make changes.
Obviously it would be better to just keep the same formation/playing style then a new manager could come in seamlessly (or just don't change manager at all unless you're going to be relegated)
The bit mentioned above about everyone in the club being told to play 4231 is interesting. Although given MoN & Sabri didn't play it I'm not sure how true it is. Even CH didn't play it initially.

They did. There's the irony of them trying to do that, ie breaking the short term pattern with past managers. I wished they'd given Warburton, Aitor and especially MoN more time.
Though, to me, he seemed lost way before season began. He'd had his head turned by another club and other things, clearly something off the field didn't help. (Was that video 'pep talk' from the owner really true?)
I suppose if I was being fair, he did lose Cash and Watson. And he didn't have a fresh striker of note brought in that January when the team desperately needed legs. Fast ones. His stalemate and pedestrian press had been found out and he only had access to mediocre fullbacks.
Teams with running (and a striker) did the damage to him the 1st four games. But he was 'gone' (his head) long before that.

Personally don't believe it'd make much of a difference. Grabban's legs may be going but he's a finisher, give him chances in the box and he'll score, we just don't do that under Hughton despite having plenty of creative players in the squad. Alternatively how often in the past have great finishers lost their legs and had a younger player do their running for them in a partnership? Why hasn't Hughton at least tried that option? I'm just not convinced Hughton has a plan outside 4-2-3-1

Our strikers are ancient. And it's not like our 'young guns' made up the slack in the 1st four games of the season. Brennan has 1 assist and 1 goal. But that's not enough.
Plenty of crap creative players at the club you mean? The ones that came for £13 million and can't assist or score? Or Lolley who has been a mere shadow with various problems? Or Lyle who is on the floor with his hands up in the air? What about Mighten? Also spends alot of time falling over.
If you can't defend and you can't score. You're going down. Hughton did well with a marginally better team last season to stay up. And there was nothing the great Brian Clough could have done about it in his final season, either, right? That's what happens when your recruitment is in crisis.
We've brought in '10' players, many of whom weren't here in the 1st 4 games. So they're an unknown quantity with only a mini - pre-season International Break to gel them. I hope they perform. I'm cautious. Who wouldn't be? But if anyone can claw us out of the bottom 3, it's Hughton. It will be attritional at 1st. We need the points.
There is the potential for our strikers to score more if the service is there but that remains to be seen if recruitment has done their job so Hughton can do his. I don't think we'll see Grabban hit 20 again even with good service. It remains to be seen if the new players can put it on a plate for old legs.
Hughton should of done this, that and the other. What? With a magic wand? Ironic that as Forest have chopped and changed the managers and the squads they've gone down the table. No recent Forest manager had to go into a season with a fullback crisis.
But of course, the current incumbent 'should have done this.'
We're still scrabbling about for a striker. (The last striker Forest spent serious money on is about to enter his mid-30s.)

Steve Cooper plays a 3-1-4-2 with a high-energy game. Out of work and ready to come in. Is a coach more than a manager and happy for comity to give him players that meet his wish list profile.

Cooper left Swansea after a catastrophic falling out with their CEO. Im not saying there would be the same situation here, just that with our past history with managers and behind the scens goings on and be honest there will be planty of gossip between football managers, he would need a heck of a lot of reassurance before coming here.

He's no Mourinho! He's out of work and the forest job is one of the top jobs outside of the prem. He'd take it like a shot.
