And Aurier

That would be a huge loss imo.

Unfortunately we might start the season a little under strength by the looks of things but I think it's worth remembering that the window doesn't close when the season kicks off.

Struggling to see how, beyond pure blind optimism.

Ultimately we've swapped Surridge & Dennis for Elanga, which is an upgrade but beyond that we're not even close to improving the key areas.

Getting players in at the end of August when there's every chance we're bottom of the league wo t necessarily help

I reckon we will only be 6 points off the top spot come the end of August.

I reckon beginning of August we will be joint top on level points with City.

So at the moment, assuming we sign nobody new and none of the injured players recover in time, we could be starting against Arsenal with a team like this:

-----------------------------Horvath--------------------------
-----------McKenna---------Boly----------Worrall----------
Aurier--------Danilo---------Yates------Mangala------Aina
-------------------------Gibbs-White--------------------------
----------------------------Wood-------------------------------

Subs:
Shelvey (G)
Biancone
Powell
Williams
Kouyate
Freuler
Elanga
Scarpa
Hwang

Didn't Aurier start at RCB at the end of last season? I reckon we'll do that and get Neco in the starting 11, otherwise yes this is the team.

So from last year missing Navas, Lodi, Felipe, Taiwo, Niakhate. What could go wrong?

That's a team destined to be in the Championship.

I hope that they’re just protecting Taiwo.

I also think neco starts and Elanga.

Yeah, the names and positions could change, that was just an example.

It could be something like:

----------------------Horvath--------------------
Aurier-------Boly-----------Worrall----Williams
---------Danilo-------Yates---------Mangala----
---------Elanga--------Wood----Gibbs-White----

Could Elanga play up top instead of Wood so we at least have some pace and mobility up there?

RE: Forest Squad - Season 2023/24 - ozzyten10 - 03-08-2023

I now have deep concerns. Brennan is obviously not going to play again for us, our two best defenders are crocked. Aurier, Kouyate and Dennis have offers to Saudi so probably heart no longer in it. No decent keeper. Scarpa (who I think is decent) has had 40 minutes with no MGW. Elanga and aina look OK. Our midfield flatters to deceive. Williams doesn’t look half the player he is for wales.
We are playing a kid at left back. Wood looks a bit fitter but cumbersome and xant finish from a yard out. Hwang - runs about and when put through dallies trying to get it on his strong foot - he is old and a journeyman type who has no place in the premiership and I would worry if he was an option at championship level. I’d rather have surridge! Worrall has looked extremely dodgy playing out and rash in the challenge. Mckenna is shocking when caught high.
My greater worry is MGW looked absolutely pissed off last night. He is our only player who looks premier class. Mangala has been very rusty for me. Freuler - he is so slow - either he really doesn’t get the pace or we have his twin brother from the player who plays internationally or from the past in Italy.
Low block football with box midfield and no width is a recipe for 4 and 5 Nill away performances.
Yates has looked like he did 3 years ago and telegraphing any forward pass.

Yes - I am very worried about this year and have us as relegation certs.

Yeah, but apart from that we're pretty decent yes?
