For me the most interesting/depressing aspect is our rankings. Even excluding parachute payments we’re midtable at best. Commercially very poor although good to see the big increase the attendance rise has had.
I think these comparisons also once again prove the value of promotion. The line given about whether you’re ready is irrelevant just getting up there, getting the parachute payments then you can start actually competing consistently.
Once again shows how bad parachute are for competitive balance in the league too

The financing of English football is so wrong.
They should set a date when parachute's will stop and all in championship get a slice of that action, and then some needs to go down the leagues as well.
Parachute's are there to cover for the fact that clubs have players on massive contracts and cant afford in the league below, so if all clubs had player contracts whereby salary halved by relegation and doubled by promotion the problem would be reduced.
Surely what goes on now is anti-competitive.

The Premier League is the work of the devil. Its caused more misery to football clubs in the last 25 years than the entire football league did in the 100 years before it.
But thats OK as long as the Chelsea and Man Utds of the world can continue to pay one of their players more in a year than the collective wage bill of all the clubs in L1 and L2 put together.

Crony capitalism at its 'finest.'
Symptoms of a deeper malaise. If '2 trillion' can just go 'missing' 18 years ago...or the tax payer can by hung out to dry care of 'austerity' for the 'banking crisis' of 2008...
Money always goes 'somewhere' - never 'missing' - and in our football example, (perhaps like the shadow examples above), it has gone to the top of the football pyramid.
Is Manchester City really 'Manchester City?' Half a billion squad. Seems like the table is tilted.
Forest getting to the 'promised' land. It won't be like it was when Clough did it. Hard work. Talent spotting. Managing. Walking on water. And that was before the dark times. It was hard enough to compete with the 'big clubs' then. Before the billionaires, sky and a 'perma-rich' top 6.
At least we'll have a new ground to enjoy should we make it in the next two years or so.
We should enjoy Martin and Roy while they last here. A bit our past, our heritage, our very soul. Passion not plastic journey men.

Yet again another club overspent, got promotion and got away scott free. Wolves now added to Leicester and Bournemouth who only paid small fines. QPR only got fined and punished significantly when relegated.
From the most recent set of accounts can anyone see who is in deep mucky stuff for 2019-2020? Derby? Sheffield Wed? Villa? Hull? Middlesboro?
Another thing that gets me is where does the fine money actually go? Surely it would be fair to distribute it to the clubs who were handicapped by the unfair spending. I bet it doesn’t go to grass roots either.
Either way, we need to get our own house in order- reduce our squad numbers significantly and invest in scouting and sensible recruitment. What is the point in Pele, Ansfariard, conclaves, Yacob? Don’t get me started on Clough Cummins, Tachtsidis, ward etc... then add grant, Smith and walker to the mix.
The new regime do have some responsibility in this.
A massive job is on to realign our squad. I just hope we don’t end up selling our Crown Jewels to finance dead weights.
