He’s just one of dozens of great players who cannot translate their playing talents to that of a coach/manager - the requirements are totally different.
I could name many but let’s just mention a couple - Shearer, Charlton etc.
Let’s just leave it there...

Sorry mate, I think I am getting confused. I thought we were talking about a DOF role not manager. I probably didn't read back on the thread properly.

For me the clearest thing from the last two games (Wednesday and Blackburn) is that the team doesn't appear to want to win. They are very much going through the motions, moving the ball about but without the kind of attacking intent that we saw before Christmas.
This to me says the players are not behind the manager (unless he has instructed them not to shoot) the number of opportunities we have created where we have either not got a shot away or pulled a shot hideously wide over the last couple of games is crazy.
Something is clearly no right in the camp and hopefully it will come to a head and get sorted sooner rather than later.

Grabban - noticeable disconnect when he got took off. No handshake with MON, which was different to when Yates and Arvin came off.

Yacob - 1 error in giving penalty away against Wigan and hasn’t played again.

The thing I find a bit worrying is that under Karanka, after an international break I always thought the team had noticeably improved. It was like he worked with the players with the extra time available and they then applied it to the pitch.
Under Mon, the players seem to be just going out and be playing with no idea of how they are meant to be set up. It's like he relies on the players to just go out and do it.
I may be completely wrong about the whole thing - It's just a hunch I've got. I hope I'm wrong.
I'm a firm believer that at 2nd division level, players need to be told exactly what to do as they are inacapable of making these kinds of decisions themselves. If they could, they'd be playing in the prem.

Yes, I think that Sniffer/Duncan have alluded to that.

Some really sensible comments here about MON, AK and the players. Its very refreshing to hear - the social media negativity and over reaction was starting to make me think I'd been watching a different team all season.
I think us fans did get carried away a little bit. The club promoted itself really well and created a buzz, we signed a player we'd never heard of for a lot of money and he did some tricks and we thought he was Messi, and we started thinking of promotion instead of relegation. As other have said, we never really got into the promotion race though. We have always been looking up just a win or run of good results away from taking that step forward. And that run never came - not under AK and not under MON. Personally the squad is not as talented as some believe. On a good day, we can complete but only when Lolley is on fire, Grabban is interested, Carvalho doesn't let the game pass him by and everyone else is on top form. Those good days haven't been often enough.
I'm as disappointed as everyone else but I'm not going to be mardy about it. I didn't want to change the manager but it happened (with plenty of blame on all sides). I'll give MON and others some time to improve the squad over the summer for a push next year.
In the last 20 years there have been some really awful seasons. This wasn't one. I'm going to be positive that next year will be the one we've been waiting for.

Nice post mate and I agree with you for the most part. Not sure about your last sentence though, I will wait to see who our manager is first and what we can achieve in the summer transfer window.

I still think they will get it right.
5 months ago we were lauding them and we were flying on and off the pitch.
Admittedly we have taken a couple of steps back since then and I am a bit disappointed but I haven't lost faith.
Marinakis is a very proud man and he is a proven winner, he won't he taking this lightly, he will be hurting inside.
If I could give him a tiny bit of advice (I will tell him if I see him) then it would be to get one or 2 'British Football Men' in upstairs positions and leave them to do their jobs.

last season we finished with 53 points
