RE: A Hit Or A Flop - Tricky - 28-03-2020

McGovern is a definite hit. One of THE most underrated players in history IMO. John O'Hare, I'm so tempted to say flop, but him going down under McDermotts challenge and making it look like it was in the box against Liverpool at Old Trafford for our first league cup warrants him with a hit. The fact that they still hate him at Anfield speaks volumes  :D

It was big nose Thompson not McDermott but yeah O'Hare wil always be fondly remembered for that.

I think he actually brought him down with his nose!!!!!

If I remember right it was Thompson's comment on MOD that became as famous as his foul. Still upset he squealed out that he was still "as sick as a parrot". In proper scouse tongue he made the phrase known worldwide.

I was standing in the old Stretford End that night definite penalty even though it was just outside the box!

Hit. Cost peanuts. Solid career for us. Did a man marking  job on Zola once when he was best attacking player in Prem.

Des was a cracking player, he got some terrible abuse in his first season with us, some of it quite unsavoury.

I still remember his goal at Villa Park.

How about Alan Rogers?

I stand corrected on that point.

I liked the tank. Decent and solid and could get forward down the wing a bit too, if I remember correctly. Hit

Lyttle was solid and consistent without being spectacular. Hit.

Rogers was good in his first spell but if I remember well was rather poor second time around. Hit and flop.

I agree with you SD about Lyttle and Rogers.

Here is an interesting one...

Stern John?
