As with everything else, shipping is governed by supply and demand; demand has dried up, storage is full and there are tankers at sea full of oil with nowhere to go.
This is from last weeks Investors Chronicle, a Financial Times publication:
Currently, almost 30 oil tankers are anchored as storage off the coast of southern California – tankers that would have originally gone out to the source of the supply chain and shipped it around the world. Stranded might be a better word, as they are full up with oil, but unable to deliver it. Refineries are flat out. Space is running out to fill the glut in oil, and this has led to the price of storage space doubling in just two months. Land storage is full, and tankers are filling up.
Last week, we saw what happened in WTI futures as the May contracts went negative. When storage runs out nobody wants to hold a physical product they can't store, and so it should come as no surprise that tanker stocks are swiftly moving through the gears.
But doesnt a lot of EM's shipping involve containers rather than crude? or does he do all of it? Containers are often shipping stuff that has already been sold so that shouldn't affect them being offloaded, unless of course the destination ports are closed, which then makes it a completely different ball game
I am not sure of the exact breakdown by sector but if you google Marinakis Shipping up comes a page with a picture of an Oil Tanker.

Genuinely surprised Sabri has survived up until now, not convinced he'll turn it around but I really like the owner showing some more patience, bodes well for the future.
After all the doubters at the start of the summer, he's shown patience and a massive investment which given the lack of income he'll be massively underwriting. Also, what I would describe as excellent, rational and sensible business predominantly with a clear strategy.
Now just to get the new stand building work started!

How on earth can anyone question their commitment, they have just signed some of the best players to grace our squad for many awhile. Once these players have bedded in and we have found a system that suits the team we will shoot up the league.
We’re only 3 games in for goodness sake, Whoever takes over from Sabri ( his days are clearly numbered sadly) will have inherited one of the best squads in the league.
Talk about biting off the hand that feeds you. The man is bankrolling us with very little income, show some common sense.
