I think current contracts of players run until 30th June so not much will happen before then, not in public anyway.

In reality though it doesn't normally happen like that. The end of the window is always the busiest time not the beginning.

We have to compete with it though whether we like it or not.
It can be done. Sheffield United did it last season.

Sheff utd had a long-term plan with a manager who wants to play football and was given time to implement a style and team ethic over a number of years where as we are expecting a manager to do that in one window.
