The next accounts should be interesting. Just for an indication we're carrying around £20m FFP losses for two years so we've got £19m losses to play with this time which is fine. It will include grabban, Carv and sale of Brereton amongst others.
We made net £10m on player sales last time and still lost £10m so gives you an idea of what we can do.

If somewhat sobering.
The ship has been steadied from life support. But it's got a long way to go.
They're driving wage turnover down whilst making the squad more competitive. Mediocre results whilst having 'almost' the most expensive wages in the Championship defies logic. 'Soft touch' no longer.
Commercial revenue from sponsors was relatively poor given our proud history (i.e. not playing our 'ace' in the pack.) But recent deals indicate we've made significant strides forwards.
Gates improved to 24k. But recently price cuts and relative success in improving the squad and subsequent high league placings have improved attendance to at least 27k on average and many sell outs on match door with a sound away day following.
In short, we're becoming a 'well run' club.
It gives an idea of why(!) the aggressive move to get the new stand scheduled and built is so important. An extra 8k of 'bums on seats' and selling 'pies and drinks' on match day will go along way to bringing in more match day revenue. For Forest? It's significant. We're so far behind our rivals in the Championship. In many of those categories in the 'Swiss' report, Forest were in the relegation zone. High outgoings, poor performance on and off the pitch. That was reflected in 3 'almost' relegations before the emergency breaks were hit under the new regime and immediate measures were taken to steady the ship.
It explains the January window. And why players have(!) to go out before more come in. It's FFP. It's where Forest are. i.e. in the process of trimming the wage to performance on the pitch ratio. And whilst the January window signings weren't flashy they were perhaps necessary. Replace unhappy or underperforming players with ones that can come in and do a job.
Eg. replace two 'LBS' at £2.5 million and get a free transfer with one that has promotion winning experience. In financial context it makes sense.
And why we're not getting Gayle any time soon. Not unless we sell Car' for what's left of his contract.
Forest are no longer at death's door. But we're improving. If we can get to where we should be and then add the stand to that picture? Then we're going to overtake Villa, Norwich, Derby, Bristol City and the recent 'unfashionably' overachieved but well run 'Premier Clubs' eg. Bournemouth and Burnley.
It's going to take a bit more time. That's why maybe we shouldn't get too frustrated this season regardless of what happens. We're 'almost' there (give or take 2 more years for the new stand) and perhaps that is reflected on the pitch.
'Almost.'
If we get lucky and promoted? Then matters will accelerated. But if we don't. It won't be a disaster. Time is on our side.
