RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Strawberry Avenger - 31-03-2019 Tommy signs for us? Is this true? He's the kind of guy we need involved in our recruitment. SA. RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Strawberry Avenger - 31-03-2019 A good listen, only 16 mins in... ...talking about due diligence. Especially when you're spending £13.5 million... SA. RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Username - 31-03-2019 He was heavily involved in Brereton going to Blackburn apparently. Bre' may yet come good for Blackburn. He burst onto the scene with Forest and looked the business. And vs Arsenal? He tore them a new atrium. But as we often see with young players when they're put in too soon or 'too much' of too soon, they dip or make mistakes or become battle weary. Others, like Keane are imperious and stay that way and get better. Harewood was a late bloomer. SA. RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Strawberry Avenger - 31-03-2019 Yates. Started well. But now opposition players will be on him. Roughing him up. Making it hard. Getting hurt. That mental toughness. Going through all that. Listening. Keeping your feet on the ground. Attitude. Learning your trade when young players are payed so much and given so much so soon these days. But I wouldn't want to be a player under the receiving end of a Warnock or Martin/Keane grilling. Tommy is giving a good listen. SA. So Brereton gets the benefit of the doubt but Carvalho doesn’t? RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Reds73 - 31-03-2019 (31-03-2019, 04:08 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote: Yates. Started well. But now opposition players will be on him. Roughing him up. Making it hard. The issue with Yates are his technical deficiencies. His body is not open when he receives the ball, so his first pass is not forward He really needs to work on that as a midfielder has to be able to play forward, especially if we are operating in top half of the championship RE: Our Recruitment Policy - ThePromisedLand - 31-03-2019 (31-03-2019, 03:53 PM)Username Wrote: He was heavily involved in Brereton going to Blackburn apparently. Surprises me? Johnson joined Watford ( from Blackburn ) last March. Brereton didn’t join Blackburn until August. It’s just what I read, it could be wrong, take with a pinch of salt. The scouting process from the Blackburn side could have started whilst he was there. RE: Our Recruitment Policy - the jock - 01-04-2019 johnson loved a good pissup as a player when he was supposedly injured. we need big physical athletes for this league who are suited to this league. its not rocket science. look at villa - abraham and Mings are beasts. I knew looking at the Portuguese in preaseason they wouldnt do. RE: Our Recruitment Policy - Salvatore Matrecano - 04-04-2019 I see that Wolves have now signed Jimenez for £30M. Made me wonder how things have worked out so well for them with the Mendes signings and so apparently badly for us. Mendes obviously has a long standing close friendship with Nuno which must help and Im sure Wolves are getting the pick of the crop. However he apparently knew Karanka and has good dealings with many major european clubs. Could it be that we didnt go all in, Carvalho although a lot of money for us, still isnt big league fees. Dias and Goncalves were both loans. In other words you get what you pay for, Mendes deals with the big boys and we were trying to do “Wolves lite” which was never going to be successful. Anyhow I suspect our little experiment is over and we will try a different route. It is none the less painful when you see how well it has worked elsewhere. |
