last season we finished with  53 points

we currently have 57 points with 4 to play.

Slow slow improvement on pitch, huge improvement off pitch.

let’s be honest AK recruitment was very average. He was asked to build a side capable of promotion and fell well short of building that squad IMO. No wonder hierarchy weren’t happy when he wanted to flip his own squad again in Jan

He made about 30 signings and less than half have been good enough.

Fig, Daws, Robbo, Yacob, Lolley, Grabban have been good value
Watson, Guedioura, Hefele, Panti, Soudani haven’t provided value at all
Also the loans he brought in were largely poor - Dias, Goncalves, Janko, Ansarifard

next year is a big year...will another playoff miss be tolerated? karanka was told he had to be in top 6 by january

Not sure how much say he had in the Portuguese signings, more of a sounds good I’ll take them. 50% success rate isn’t too bad really, shame on a few injuries have limited some. Probably more you look at the sheerness amount of players and wonder how many were necessary and how many were always likely to become deadwood fast. Perhaps he would’ve been better off relying slightly more heavily on the academy. Also not signing a backup left back was criminal!

Every season no matter who the manager is the goal will be the same.

Promotion!  A failure to deliver that will probably end with the manager losing his job.

I am not saying that is right but I believe it to be true.

There can be no doubt the new ownership has improved us overall. But this year has seen minimal return for the biggest financial investment we've ever made in 1 window by a country mile.

It's not that the Greek's aren't improving us, it's the fact that they're 1) doing so at quite an expense; 2) not actually recognizing when we are improving.

Let's hope that we've noe learned our lessons, and push on to bigger, better, healthier & happier all round.

Therefore assuming 75 points gets you top 6 and 85 gets you top 2, at the current rate of progress we can expect to get to the playoffs in 2025 or make automatic by 2029   :D

but those maths don't include the possibility we win the next 4, when that trajectory is plotted, it puts on course to be automatically promoted by mid Nov and champions by Xmas

think Leicester, there winning football started when they were in relegation trouble the season prior to winning the PL

I think now is as good time to get carried away as any
