They finished fifth. Can't have been *that* bad. That’s pretty good, better than 7th I believe…. RE: Next Manager The Runners & Riders - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 09-09-2025 If I remember well weren't Spurs top after 10 games and some were talking of them winning the league? Comparing apples to oranges given Spurs squad that season, they still had Kane. He actually had them in the top 4 in Feb 24 before falling away badly at the end of the season before last. Woody's just as good. :Funny: RE: Next Manager The Runners & Riders - TrickySte - 09-09-2025 Kane didn't play under Ange, he left in the August he was appointed RE: Next Manager The Runners & Riders - wassy04 - 09-09-2025 (09-09-2025, 01:17 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote:(09-09-2025, 01:01 PM)Sniffer Dog (Admin) Wrote: If I remember well weren't Spurs top after 10 games and some were talking of them winning the league? He repeatedly struggled with a lack of depth/backing at Spurs, could we make the argument that his entire failing was due to not having a big enough squad and now he's got that here? I will cling to that. On the plus side, first few games I imagine we'll come out firing. I don’t think it’s something just to cling to, to be honest. His record in his first season speaks for itself. I accept he struggled in his second season but the squad was very light defensively and the signings were largely not good enough. To be fair, Ange exacerbated the issues by pushing players beyond their limits and he never had a Plan B. Finishing 5th wasn't exactly a major achievement for Spurs though in that first season? I'm sure they'd have been expected to finish top 7. Have a look at the players that played for him that season. Only one defender managed to start over 90% of the league games that season (Porro). The most from a midfielder was Sarr with 27. He managed to get 17 goals out of Son who was on the downturn and 11 out of Richarlison. |
