I've been impressed with other teams I've seen. Norwich, Birmingham & Sheff Wed all put in good performances against us. Even Milwall and Rotherham were good and they're at the bottom of the table.

I've completely revised my outlook for the season since I made my comments. 


I now believe our performances have improved so much in the last 4 weeks or so that we we're now showing top 2 form.

If results and performances continue at this level, then the next test will be for us getting up to the top 2 or 3 and dealing with the pressure once we're there.  No single team has yet managed to get to the top of the league and stay there consistently. I'd like to thing we might be able to do it.

We have winnable games coming up which might help us leapfrog a few teams above us.

I'm just getting a feeling that there's something special going on at the moment. We have all the key elements required for a promotion team:

A goal scorer
A solid defence
Good experience along with
Youth in the team
A manager with experience
Fairly good luck with injuries (compared to the last 5 years or so)
A few quid in the bank if we need to spend in Jan
The entire club at one with no funny Billy type antics going on in the background.

so to finish in the play offs Aitor Karanka will need to spend £20,000,000 probably on crabs

to win the league we'd probably need someone like Slavisa Jokanovic to spend £30,000,000 on predominantly offensive exciting players

the only other variable and worth consideration is high quality/high wage loans from the PL/Europes elite which messes up the simplicity of my guesstrapulation but there could be 2 or 3, for the sake of argument we could call each one £2million
