Hard not to get caught up in it though as we have improved and we were briefly threatening top two. After we beat Ipswich and hull it did feel like we were on the brink of clicking and being a good side. Karanka’s team for the most part was difficult to beat and occasionally played dominant football. WBA Bolton hull sheff wed sheff Utd we did reach the level that made it possible to be challenging for promotion. How most other games we did not and often didn’t look like scoring.
I was mainly trying to point out that whilst the team was good in patches under karanka the style of football was no better than the supposed “dinosaur football” that people expect under MON.

I always found it amusing that we once used to criticise TD for always being caught out defensively, because he was to far up field (some even suggested trying him as a winger instead), but that more recently he's been more criticised for his fear to get forward.
I also found it amusing that in the summer some praised up Dias, as the new Superman, for his desire to take on his man & run at the opposition, but as he walks out the door he's criticised for his refusal to take on his man & his desire to try & cut in instead.
Remember Hildeberto Pereira? Had bags of talent & potential, but failed here, failed in Poland, even failed at Northampton, because for all that talent you just couldn't tell him what to do & he'd run off, wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, to do whatever he wanted.
Sometimes it's the opposite, sometimes it's not the player, sometimes it's their instructions, or to rigid instructions.
After the pain of the last X years, & fuelled by the optimism that came from regime change, some of us more saw what we wanted to see this season, rather than what we really did see this season.
Some of it was smoke & mirrors.
Berto is actually doing very well in Portugal on the right wing.
The big clubs are once again circling around him, one the most talented players we have had in a long time, just still too raw he's finding himself now though.

Much crap around written about Keane. He is a winner. He is driven. He has high standards. He expects others to be committed and appreciative of the role as a professional footballer. He is also very kind and generous with his time, money and has often helped others without gain for himself. Gary Charles, mcloughlin and a few others from way back would testify.
These are as many ex players of his who love him as those that have sustain for him. Remind you of a previous big headed winner we had at our club?
