RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - Marinakis Red - 03-08-2019 We have been linked to that Croatian striker from legia Warsaw dubbed the next Mario mandzukic. 3.5 million euros. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - ozzyten10 - 03-08-2019 We need a few out now RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - Madforit - 03-08-2019 Easier said than done. If only every professional footballer could comfortably receive a ball with players around him and keep it. We seem to have missed out on them in recent years. As I acknowledged, Yates was good with the off the ball stuff, which suited MON’s agricultural long ball approach, but we need players who can also pass a ball in SM’s approach. Yates may have looked better in the lower leagues but he has a lot to learn to be a Championship standard midfielder. I agree, we will only know for sure once the season begins, but I’m hopeful based on what I’ve seen in the friendlies. We finished top 10 last season and we have replaced the two Portuguese flops with Adomah, who’s an experienced campaigner in this league, and Ameobi who can’t be any worse. Personally, I’m most excited about Silva and Semedo. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - ozzyten10 - 03-08-2019 On that showing much weaker. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - wassy04 - 03-08-2019 We missed colback compared to last year. I wonder if it’s too late to revisit? Alternatively maybe this Samba will come in next game and toughen things up. Yates/carv to come in too so all is not lost RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - Paplane - 03-08-2019 Cant see how carvalho and silva can play in the same side. Much too lightweight. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - Alf - 03-08-2019 Good point Paplane. Think today we looked exactly how I said, better balanced but weaker overall. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - Madforit - 03-08-2019 To be honest I think that we were better off at the end of last season, I really hope that the club can work wonders next week, because on that showing we need quality players, not squad nobody's. I know it's our first game, which was shocking, but Lamouchi really has to pick his best starting 11 and today's team was not it. He will clearly need time to get up to speed. Semedo grew into game, Albert steady, Muric did a great impession of Pascolo.(02-08-2019, 04:39 PM)zicorice Wrote:(02-08-2019, 12:41 PM)Sabricadabra Wrote: I’ve watched enough friendlies to know they aren’t the same as competitive matches, but you can still glean something of how a player performs.Going to have to agree to disagree on a few of your points. Plenty of time, but with our owner they need to get up to speed pretty quick. Yates is young and I agree has lots to learn, but he knows that better than anyone and I would personally like to see him learn it here. At every level he has played from National League up he has grown into a top player. Today Colback was really missed in midfield imho. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - McDurban - 08-08-2019 The core of our squad, upon which everything else should be built around IMO looks like this. Brice Worrall Yates Carvalho Lolley Appiah These are the players with contracts running to 2023. Of the new signings only Brice has got a long term contract. We have a spine developing, the only position missing is the CF. I expect Yates and Appiah to get a lot of playing time this year, Yates at Forest and Appiah on loan. Build on the above and I reckon promotion will come. RE: Is our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season - McDurban - 08-08-2019 Does anyone know if Appiah plays CF? |
