That is the difference between a top two team and a shout for a play off spot. Cardiff did a Forest against Forest, we had the ball, especially in the second half, practically all the time but created nothing. Grabban not even a sniff, not even one decent shot on goal ( and their keeper wasnt the best to be honest, as he spilled the ball a couple of times). I think that if this team had a Collymore type of player, would romp the league.
Ironically in the second half the easiest chance fell to Cardiff, were they missed a goal already done !!!.
The defence was good as always, the midfield controlled the centre circle but created nothing. Watson was good again, Silva too but on the defensive aspect only, but created nothing. Carvalho another disappointing performance, he is no team player, he is best suited to 5 a side games these are the games that you expect him to shine and not against an already beaten team that leaves the back at your mercy. Can understand why we keep bringing on Adomah, he is contributing close to nothing, better if we left Ameobi on the field or brought Mir earlier.
Lolley a poor second half, again.
All in all, as said earlier Cardiff played a Forest away from home type of game...nd won...their first away win of thd season !!! ...
We need two or three quality signings in January if else we will struggle to get to the play offs...

Some valid points there. Cardiff have done an away 'Forest' performance on Forest.
On another day we could have drawn that. But if Forest had played for ten days I didn't think they'd score.
It's not the end of the world. It's the Championship and every team has one of those days. Just got to be careful that other teams don't 'come here' and do what Cardiff did so it becomes a problem at home how to break teams down.
8 points off top. A game in hand. 4th spot. 3 points behind Fulham in 3rd.

SA unfortunately, it's not 'a one of those days' , it happened a couple if times already this season...at home...script was the same ... Lamouchi must look at this and do something, and quick or else is going to be a repeat of previous years...once we r found out, the opposition comes with a plan nd succeeds in making it work...

Game spoiling teams that would 'old man' a naive Forest under Warburton or show their pedigree class vs Forest's hobbits are consigned largely to history. But that 'muck and nettles' nemesis that still gift wraps teams like Cardiff (who haven't won away all season?) their 'duck.'
I'd sulk. But we've been here so many times before. Against those 'physical', time wasting, park the bus sides.
Wigan, Hull and now Cardiff. These are those 'one of those days' sides. It's cost 9 points.
Summer showed a change of tack in understanding the kind of players 'we' (Forest) need to recruit to get out of 'this' league. And Wigan, Hull, Cardiff all showed where Forest's squad a short. It's cost 9 points. All three teams were 'beatable' but not by Forest's squad toolset available to them. All teams will have an off day in the championship. Forest have had 3 that really come to mind including todays. It's one goal. But that lapse cost Forest a draw. (I won't say a win.)
And it will only be addressed by work in the transfer window. 2-3 players. Robust, 'play the game' and can 'play a bit' style players. Match winners.
This was the kind of game that Forest prob' missed Dawson's leadership at the back and definitely Sow in the middle.
A Collymore style striker. An Ollie Watkins. A physical player who can just run at a defence and make something instead of waiting for it to fall on their lap.
Ironic that Tomlin was on their side. I noticed with a wry smile he'd tumbled into Watson and 'gamed' a free kick and it was around this time of conceding cheap possession in 'our' half that the goal came. You 'knew' it was coming.
And it shook Forest. That's a sign of a team still in progress. No shame in that. Forest were a top 12-ish side last season. They are currently a top 6 (4!) side.
Restoring Dawson and Sow to the side will help. But they need 2-3 players with power, guile, match winning will and goal scoring capability.
Leeds and WBA are find that 'inevitable' win each week and the die seems cast? Having played both of them we seemed short of their quality. They're further down the line. They've stuck with it longer. We're still chasing their cycle of development. i.e. we're playing catch up.
More to come. But that will mean another transfer window if any remote possibility of a top 2 aspiration is be anything more than mere words.

The disappointment for me was that we seemed to accept the defeat at about 70mins.
We never looked like scoring. You'd think we would have thrown everything at them but we faded with a whimper.
I feel frustrated as hell. As ive said before, we're playing for 3rd now. No way are we a top 2 side.
