I think there is now a deadline that all matches have to be completed by 30th June otherwise the season will be written off but I could be wrong on that last bit.

To say that the season must be completed by 30th June.

It's not going to happen is it? I have serious doubts anyway.

The noises coming out of the media suggest that they'll prioritise finishing the season over starting a new one.

Assumes being able to play behind closed doors.
I have my doubts.
And if the PL don’t then what’s the point?

I think the lower league clubs need the revenue from the outstanding games so playing behind closed doors will never be acceptable to them IMO unless they receive a compensatory payment from the premier league. They may as well void the season and start again if they don't get any revenue.

Prem clubs, and possibly championship clubs (with a few exceptions) may be prepared to play in empty stadiums just to settle the champions league places & promotion spots as the rewards for success are huge. But in the EFL's case presumably this would be put to an equal vote and the Championship clubs would get out-voted.

And teams like Derby and Sheff Wed will want the season to finish and their points deduction incurred so that they can start next season on an equal footing.

Now there’s an incentive for voiding the league  :D

It would certainly soften the blow a bit.

This seems like a pretty good result for us all things considered. We'd have a better chance of promotion next season (if there is a season) due to the league being weaker as opposed to the unlikely scenario we go up via the playoffs.

Good point Wassy. I would sooner we have a shot at the play offs though if at all possible.

Maybe delaying the start of next season will turn the game of football into a summer sport rather than a winter sport which IMO should've happened years ago.

Me neither! The city council spend a lot of money plonking tonnes of sand onto the market square for it to be ignored due to football matches having to be played  :D

Winter is miserable enough, if there is no footy then what the heck have you got to look forward to at that time of year!? No keep it as is when things get back to normal.
