I liked Bing. He was a bit of a one trick pony with his step over but it worked most of the time. Hit.

Wouldn’t call Bing a flop but always thought he was too lightweight. Preferred Franz Carr as I thought we always looked better when he played. Cloughie always preferred Crosby though. At the end of the day played a lot of games and cost nowt so hit.

RE: A Hit Or A Flop - Paplane - 30-03-2020

Crosby was so lucky to have Cloughie as his manager. No other manager would have played him. Clough obviously liked the lad. I can't really remeber if he was good or not, other than he was a hugely controversial pick amongst the fans.

Can you image the pelters Crosby would've had on forums like this if they'd existed back then?

And it makes you think, what other players would have been successful under the guidance of the genius? I'd imagine Yates would be a sure pick under Cloughy. Cash too probably.

Crosby set up a huge amount of goals for Nigel. He was underrated by many.

RE: A Hit Or A Flop - Tricky - 30-03-2020

I liked Bing and we know Cloughie had a special soft spot for him.

Scored probably the cheekiest and most controversial goal ever at the WFCG by heading the ball out of the Man City keeper Andy Dibbles hand.

It's a hit from me!!

Crosby was better than people gave him credit for. Carr was rapid and a fans favourite but end product was like mendes.

What about Tommy Gaynor! I loved him - so skilful and good passer of the ball. Not rapid but decent. Another clough signing - from nowhere and dissapeared nearly as quickly as he arrived...

Surely a flop?

Flop.

I remember him 'hand balling' (two hands) a ball into the opposition's net.

1 million for him?

:O

Davenport (about the same era) was much better.
