I wouldn’t say he tightened us up. Brighton should probably have scored 3 in the first half. We were better second half, but also created absolutely nothing. This is not the same Brighton that got themselves into 6th place, they haven’t won in 4 games under their new manager before we played tonight. This is a game we should have been trying to win. Just like Villa and Wolves, where we also didn’t do anything with the ball.

Yep and it was horrible to watch and we still rode our luck.
But we ended up with 1 more point than we would have done if we had approached it like some of the earlier games.

Come on, two of those games were Liverpool and Spurs and one of them was tonight!
I dont agree that they should've scored 3 either, only good chance I remember was that one that Veltman booted over. Rest were all half chances where we forced them to shoot from further away.

He is the best manager we have had decades. Critics say the squad is better than league position. I am not convinced the squad is that great in comparison to others in the premier league. For example Leicester are now below us and I would argue have a far better squad man for man. This squad has been assembled in a few weeks. It was never going to be gelling for start of season. Looks like Niakhate was going to be lynchpin of defence but got injured in second game. Last three games have shown more defensive solidity which is a building block. Also a few combinations are beginning to gel such as Freuler and Yates. Sacking Cooper would be self harm, like voting for Brexit.

It’s the lack of goals that will do him, you can’t win matches without scoring and we don’t look as if we will score again this season, at least not from open play. I understand we have keep it tight to stop the opposing team but that is not going to keep us up or keep him his job. It will however buy him time.
The crowd shouting his name means nothing, fans will turn on a sixpence, a few losses and those fans will be on his back. Not that I agree but it’s the way it is.

I'm surprised at a few of the comments on this thread.
I see Steve Cooper with a plan to turn things around and he has priorities.
A brand new team was shipping goals, left right and centre.
Since Villa they've improved defensively by quite a margin.
He changed formation.
Villa's goal was a long range, once in a blue moon strike by a 35 year old Young.
Wolves could not score in open play and needed a penalty, Forest had that opportunity too but couldn't take it.
Last night they kept a clean sheet away against a team 6th placed in the league.
There has been more consistent team selection, injuries allowing.
A central back pairing of Cook & McKenna is now established
Aurier is looking like the 1st choice RB
A midfield three of Yates, Frueler and Mangala/Kouyate is emerging.
Issues up front will only most likely be truly solved when Cooper is prepared to send more men forward in attack.
That is going to have to wait a while longer I feel, most likely during the next transfer window which is 6 games away.
Liverpool (H), Arsenal (A), Brentford (H), Crystal Palace (H), Man United (A) and Chelsea (H)
4 points off safety
I can see 2 points from Brentford & Palace as possible.
Let's see what the club do in January, then it's a dog fight with:
Leeds
Villa
Wolves
Southampton, and
Leicester
There is still a way to go and as long as we keep seeing improvements on the field, even if only defensively at the moment, then Steve Cooper continues to be the man to lead.
