RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Tricky - 26-08-2018 (26-08-2018, 01:15 PM)Madforit Wrote: I just wish that he would stop tinkering with the team every game, for us to get some momentum going, he should by now know which is his best starting 11 and stick with them. In all fairness, he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. All season long people from all forums have been saying Darikwa isn't good enough to be RB, Benny isn't a LB, the 3 Portuguese lads aren't up to speed yet, Murphy's not good enough. Grabbans not doing anything, Soudani should be starting cos he's a beast, etc etc, the list is endless and I could go on! He has had to allow for Robinson and Byram to come up to speed in terms of fitness levels, but they are still not match sharp yet.....that may take another game or two. He was forced into making two of the changes due to injuries to Geddy and Grabban. IMO, Figuerido has been poor over the last two games and has been carried by Fox. Watson has been shocking all season. He is constantly slowing the game down, passing backwards and sideways instead of forwards and getting the pace up, which is how AK's system works best.......it em at speed and in numbers. Bridcutt should at least be given a chance to show what he can do. Pantillimon, should be dropped. He just isn't showing enough effort at getting to shots coming at him. How often do you see him dive to cover his post if a shot is going wide? Very rarely. He seems rooted to the spot. Maybe AK does know what his preferred starting XI is but due to the fact some of these players are not exactly doing anyone any favours with their poor performances, it gives him no option but to chop and change!! RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Sunny - 26-08-2018 I didn’t claim EM was patient, although there isn’t much of it in modern football anywhere. If Karanka goes someone else will come in. It is what it is, but I hope for all our sakes that Karanka is with us for the season, because it will mean that the team are doing well. Bang on NG3. Great post. Ominous. But his prerogative as owner. He's put his substantial investment in. But the teams that tend to get promoted usually have at least a whole season behind them. Be nice to see Forest finally finish a season with the same manager they started with. Ty for the inside track/perspective. It adds colour to the goings on at Forest since Mar' took over. SA. Aye, mate, aye... SA. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Username - 26-08-2018 I hope we don’t lower ourselves to Alan Hardy’s Level. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Username - 26-08-2018 I think he will continue to make adjustments. Two changes yesterday were enforced, two more were to give two of his most recent signings game time. I suspect one of those two, if not both, will play at least 40 games this year. The squad isn’t yet used to playing with each other, isn’t entirely match fit and some are still adjusting to life in another country. Early days. If Aitor goes pre 30 September then Marinakis is no better than Hardy. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - the jock - 26-08-2018 Need to stick with a manager for a few windows. Lot of these are playing for the first time for forest . RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Spangles - 26-08-2018 Trouser onions. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Alf - 26-08-2018 I think AK's more of a bad fit for Forest more than a bad manager. Stylistically it's dire. There's no two ways about it, he bought in 10 players last Jan, 13 players this Summer, he's got essentially an entire new squad and I can count on one hand the amount of games I've enjoyed watching us under him. It's usually either be awful & get beat, or be awful & scrape a result. I can certainly count more games which I've not enjoyed under him than ones I have enjoyed that's for sure. The defence still can't defend, and yet he's bought an entire new defence & had a full pre-season with the side on top of 6 months previous. He's also gone & killed things for those with a connection to some of the players already here, especially the young guns. The likes of Brereton & Worrall's progression was something which I was enjoying, and that's now binned off too. Heck I even thought Walker was starting to come on last year. Doesn't help that his arrival created bad blood with Warburton's departure, he's spent loads and yet the squad still looks thin in areas, and he took a side which was 14th to 17th last season. 25m later we're 1 place better off (and at this time last season we were actually 6th - I worry what's gonna happen when injuries hit) I still hope he gets time to get all these peices working together & push us on, Lord knows we've been desperate to have a manager see out 1 full season for years. But his arrival took us from the highs of beating Arsenal to a constant tream of mids or lows ever since. Part of me thinks even if he succeeds it'll be under a black cloud. So far he's on par with Dougie for me. Except whereas Dougie had an umbongo to deal with, AK has spent more than any other manager in our history on players. He needs to make it work and bring some good feeling back to the team sharpish. If that means spending 24 hours a day retraining himself to change his methods to suit us that's what he should do. |
