100%. My player of the year for sheer consistency. Ran games on a number of occasions. Looks good for another year at least.

I'm amazed he's settled for that.  Thought he deserved a 2 year deal myself.

Really good news. In context one of the signings of the season. Free transfer, most people thinking, he would be a squad player or late sub, plenty of people wondering why we signed him. Still say, he has all the tools to be an even more effective player. Pace, power, skill and can deliver a killer cross. Ribeiro another good freebie.

He's formed a great combination with Grabban. Some of his assists for Lewis have been fantastic.

I'm glad that they have extended his contract, he's proved his worth to this team.

Looks like Watson might be moving on.

He apparently wants a 2 year contract and we have offered one.

That would be a shame as he's been a revelation this season.

It'd be good if we could compromise with a 1 year deal which automatically extends if he plays enough games.

YEs that was in Paul Taylors article earlier in the week. the likes of QPR and Charlton are keen, and not only 2 year deal, but Watson may want to return to his london roots

It's not really a problem for me.
He's 35 next month, if we are still in the Championship I doubt he could physically maintain the form to take us up.
He's been a great player for the club, definitely a HIT!
I have no qualms with him moving on, Forest have a terrible history of hanging on to players for too long.

He's showing no signs of slowing down. He has started every league game this season and been Mr. Consistency. We should definitely keep him. Even if the unlikely scenario that we will play PL football next season should materialize.

I'd imagine he's a good influence in the dressing room too.

I'd have no problems giving him the two years as long as his wage demands weren't silly.

I totally agree, and I would also sign Colback.

Watson has been over played this season, and at times it has showed; nevertheless, he has still been a stand out player for us.

Colback would be a natural replacement for Watson within time and there is nothing wrong with a bit of succession planning.

Apart from that aspect he can also play in the role Sow plays and we all know how injury prone he is.

His addition would give us options and flexibility.

If Forest get promoted and Watson is still on the books he will either be loaned out or sit the season barely making the bench.
He has been a good player for Forest but we've got to know when it's time to end these relationships, same for Colback, gotta move on and stop looking back.

All that happens is we start heading back to squads of 30+ players.
