RE: Pre Season starts Today - ThePromisedLand - 02-07-2018 Are they training kit - or ( blue & white strips ) away & third strips? RE: Pre Season starts Today - BadDog - 02-07-2018 training. Wonder if Karanka wants a look at him before deciding whether to keep or get rid. He played centre half a lot last season. RE: Pre Season starts Today - Widdow - 05-07-2018 Nottingham Forest will prepare for the 2018-19 season with a pre-season training camp in Spain along with three friendlies on their return to the UK. Aitor Karanka will take his squad to Marbella for a warm weather training camp from Tuesday 10th to Monday 16th July where they will take part in three friendly matches. Forest will then head home for a game against Oldham Athletic on Saturday 21st July before a trip to Scunthorpe United four days later and the clash with Bournemouth on Saturday 28th July. Pre-season campaign details Tuesday 10th July - Pre-season training camp in Marbella begins Saturday 21st July - Oldham Athletic (A - 3pm) Wednesday 25th July - Scunthorpe United (A - 7.30pm) Saturday 28th July - AFC Bournemouth (H - 3pm) Now I think we have 3 games pencilled in for Spain, but this hasn't been confirmed by the club I was critical of last years Pre season friendlies as I didn't think we had enough games, I am of the same mind again, especially when consider we have (potentially) up to 11 players need to integrate and form a team.. Warburton never managed it last season which meant started season on back foot, not knowing his best 11. RE: Pre Season starts Today - Strawberry Avenger - 05-07-2018 You make a good case for having the correct amount of pre-season games. There are six lined up so far? 3 in Spain and 3 on home soil. (With a reasonable mix of different challenges from continental to...Division 1 to Premier Bournemouth.) How many Pre-season games did Forest have with Warburton last year? 3? 4? (I recall it didn't seem like that many...) How many, on average, do other teams, especially those who go on to win promotion (e.g.. Wolves...) have or had? Be interesting to see how this stat compares? I think with knowing his targets early on, have most of the targets in by June 30th and the 6 pre-season games, Karanka will, unless many previous Forest managers and pre-season disasters with last minute transfer work, has a good chance of knowing his first eleven. By way of comparison to most of the pre-seasons in the last five, ten years which have been largely train wrecks of last minute preparation..? This is the earliest I recall Forest do their pre-season transfer business with 8 in before any pre-season training games. Hopefully they get Striker, DCM and RB in before the pre-games. SA. RE: Pre Season starts Today - Largo Latacunga - 05-07-2018 Very little movement yet amongst other championship teams in terms of player recruitment so that's a positive but they'll need time to gel as a unit. Expecting that to hot up soon, as they have to do all their dealings by 2nd week in August (same deadline of window closing as Premier League I think) I notice clubs in Premier League are already wondering why they voted to bring it forward, especially in a World Cup year. Talk about stating the obvious and I knew it would cause issues We have World cup and Euros every 2 years so will always cause problems. In fact the next world cup with a winter schedule, will cause problems for years. Sure Premier league clubs will be complaining more when all the Euro big clubs can sniff around their players till the end of August and therefore still have unsettled squads. Really not sure what they were trying to achieve bringing the transfer window early. If they wanted to stop Transfer fees inflating , then instead of putting in short windows, and deadlines, go back to the old system, and transfers all year round (apart from a couple of months end of a season) Simples!
